Apocalypse Homebrew - IG Veteran Platoon

Postby Ljundhammer » Wed Oct 24, 2007 6:11 pm

Hey all,

I thought I'd add one of my homebrew datasheets. I have no idea if it's any good/over costed/under costed.

Let me know if you like it.

Seeing as KMB is the only other person adding stuff - I like the latest Tzeench one (9's all round is always good...), I like the Hellhound one too, I'd not thought of putting Techmarines in there too!

How usefull will recon be to a primarily guard army? That effects the points value alot (but I think the ball park area when you take models into account is solid). How many men does a herioc senior officer normally lead, isn't it near on a whole regiment, it rings a bit of schaeffer? I might make him a slightly lessor grade (after all if its the remnants of a whole regiment the blokes you salute are always the first to go down) but thats just me, I don't understand guard mentality.

You've at least realised the point - I'm sick of seeing the obligatory 3 DSing 5 man vet squads in all IG armies nowadays (I'm not questioning the use & effectiveness - just the blandness).

THe HSO is your general IG command squad (IG hero & 4 IG with option to add advisors). The reason he is an HSO is because he is a battlehardened veteran of a thousand wars (TM games workshop), so his stats I feel should represent his skills. It also differentiates between the platoon leader of a normal platoon (which is a junior officer). I've also forced the upgrading of all his retinue to veterans - to keep the fluff & prevent boring plasma-spam (you can take plasma-pistols if you like though).

As to why they all infiltrate - well that is kind of the point - I really can't see it being that overpowered, but feel free to disagree & I'll change. The Recon ability is not useful to a SAoD IG army - but if you are using one of those in Apocolypse then I expect you'll be having rather dull game! It's there to encourage people to *gasp* move their guard!

Any more comments? Is 150points too steep/leniant? I'll be breaking out a few molre of these over the next couple of weeks - mostly IG, but some others too I expect...

Ohhhhh Freddy, Freddy

PS the Hellhound one is looking good.
