Who needs guns
This list just needs to land close and get stuck in!
I played Gav's Ork list last night.. that my
SM GT Heat 3 list always struggles against. If there had been another turn Gav prolly wouldn't have had an Ork or vehicle left
We had one objective each, and Gav chose to go 1st
He placed his objective in the ruin on his right side, I placed mine in the open opposite his, and it was
DoW setup.
He set up around his objective, and drove his force on to support them, all on that side of the board, leaving his 2 x 2 coptas to outflank.
I
DS my chosen half, 2 x
SGs off to the flank to get side shots on the BWs; and the 3 x Bloodletters opposite his army. All
DS safely, and shot the BWs, no damage the rest ran towards some cover.
Gav's dice were great, I've never seen his Orks shoot so well; the defcoptas didn't need to be linked !!
I lost most of one unit of letters and one
SG was glanced, but when u ignored 1-4 on the glancing table, you stand a good chance of surviving.
My reserves saw the Bloodthirster and Hounds come down, the Bth hid and the dogs ran into a line infront of the Orks, 1" away, and offered cover saves to the units of letters running in behind. The dogs all got shot dead next Ork shooting phase and a few more B'letters along with them. It wasn't going to well.
Next turn saw the Crushers and other two B'letters come down. The Crushers landed where the Hounds were and continued to give cover to the B'letters massing behind, some were now charging BWs as did the Bth, who exploded his. Ork turn 4 saw more great shooting and more B'leters died, the dislodged boys charged the Bth
and lost, got held up, and then eaten by the supporting B'letters and
SG.
From then on it was all Khorne, the more Orks I charged, even in cover, the more that died!! The God of War was being satisfied
Gav did the right thing and concentrated his attacks on the B'letters, but couldn't kill enough of them before he died or ran off.
He tried a last ditch desperate tactic of driving his Nobs and Warboss' BW onto my objective, but was caught up by my Bth and Crushers. They popped the BW and killed kost of the Nobs and
WB, and contested my objective. The B'letters grabbed Gav's objective as the last of his boys were locked with 1 x
SG they just couldn't shake
Looking at different armies, I think I would struggle against a fully mechanised list... although I did kill to the last man a fluffy full on nurgle
CSM list that was using three Rhinos.
Eldar would be an issue I think, or Tau, or even my double lash winged daemon prince list with shooty noise marines and 2 defilers.
Advice anyone, or are Daemons just so unpredictable and not a serious list to compete with?
