2000 Point Mechanized Sisters of Battle list for tournaments

Postby DoctorThunder » Wed Sep 24, 2008 2:04 am

Okay, I'm finally ready to really get going with my Sisters of Battle. The two cannoness' are already being painted, so I can't change them at this point, but anything else is fair game.

This is designed to be a tournament army for local tournaments. My justification for having two cannoness' is that they are twins.

THIS IMAGE WAS REMOVED BY MYSELF IN FUTURE KMB TRY TO NOT THINK LIKE THAT, THe imagiNAtations quizzzition
The only thing off the top of my head is the seriphem.. (I'm not up on sisters but I know folks already held them as "fragile"...now (post chaos and smurf redux)- your looking at them being the most expesnive jump troops aren't you? You have to pass an intiative test to break off which is a problem against MEQ let alone faster stuff imo.
Its fluffy so I don't know what to suggest instead (e.g. a callidus,a bucket more troops?) I'd remake the codex with immoliaters as fast attack for you if I could

For tournies I guess the 3 exorcists is ok (I moan about 2 btw :D )

I think 3 Exorcists is fine at 2K.

The Seraphim's Hit and Run in the end wasn't altered from its original codex rule so they're fine to go.

I go with HF and Meltagun in my SoB Squads just to give them a bit of diversity and I don't bother spending points trying (in vain) to improve VSS's in c/c as they're only T3 S3, but totally up to you of course.

I also put BoSL's on all my VSS's and the Canoness
to help out with Morale and Pinning tests so they last longer in the game.

I know nothing about Tourneys though so I might be talking through my.....so feel free to ignore this post.
Just wait for the REAL Apocalypse.
Then you'll see SHOCK & AWE.
Amen!

Thank you guys so much for the advice. Is it just me or are Sisters of Battle players nicer then other groups on the web? I think so.

Anyway, I dropped the dozer blades and power swords, and now every squad has a book of Saint Lucius, and the Seraphim have eviscerators. Since tanks are much easier to destroy in HTH then with shooting in 5th edition (especially since hand of the emperor can make even regular sisters strength 5), I'm hoping that I can get away with the exorcists and eviscerators to do my tank killing. I left the inferno pistols on the Cannoness' because I really like how those are painted, and I think the Inferno Pistol is one of the coolest wargear in the whole game, so consider that my guilty indulgence.

Here's how she looks. I have no idea what to do with the last 5 points. Any ideas? (besides blessed weapon, I prefer eviscerators)

If they allow references to VPs be translated into your tourney an excruciator? (make that rather unassuming unit a fire magnet) long shot though.

Drop a few books and take the liber heresius- Choosing table edges can mean an awful lot when there is a fair amount of terrain around.

In my smurfs I used to swear by auspexs- doesn't do much 80% of the time but if you take the chance of "reminding your opponent" when your setting up it makes those Kroot etc infiltrateing tar pits think again. They then set up where you might prefer them to be.

Unfortunately the local tournaments use standard rulebook missions, and so according to the FAQ the liber heresius cannot be used. :(

I agree with KMB; unless you intend to lose a lot of Veteran Sister Superiors you shouldn’t need all those Book of Saint Lucius'.
Also I never really saw the attraction of Inferno Pistols as they only have a range of 6" with Melta in 3" but I suppose they're fine for charging and tank hunting with, only AP2 though; just make sure you keep the twins away from power weapons or all the faith in the world won't save them.
As for auspexs wait till you meet my allied OM Lord Inquis: Infiltrate or Deep Strike within 4D6 and say hello to 3 Psycannon and 6 Heavy Bolter shots.
