A few friends and I are playing a homebrewed campaign, there is Dark Eldar, Black Legion(myself), Tau, Space Marines, and Necrons.
Out next game is 500 points and the armies that I am most worried about is the Necron and Tau. I will have my 500 point attacking army go against their 575 point defending armies and I have not played them enough to know what to expect.

Basically, I am looking for suggestions for an army list and what to expect. I will be fighting the necrons in a forrest and they may have a bunker that I will have to bust open to get inside. As for the Tau I am just plain unsure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK I have no experience with Black Legion, but I do for Necrons. 500 pts is VERY limiting for a Necron Army. 575 isn't a lot more. At BARE MIN he spends this:

Necron Lord: 100pt
10 x Warriors (Troop 1): 180pt
10 x Warriors (Troop 2): 180pt

OK that leaves only 95 points for him to play with. If he wants an orb and disruptor fields for the warriors that would cost about 75pts there leaving only another 20pts. That would be enough for a single warrior or some smaller wargear. He could forgo the fields saving 40 pts and with the added 20, he could afford a single Heavy Destroyer (Not suggested) or a Tomb Spyder(Could work but also not suggested). He could get a Wraith for that total (but not enough for 2 unless he dropped the Orb) so again not suggested. Most likely he would add additional warriors to increase his phase out number. 60 pts would net 3 warriors. (Not really that much).

Phase out would calculate at:
Original list 1 + 10 = 10 = 21 = Phase out at 5. ie YOU kill 16 necrons.
Updated with Destroyer = 1 + 10 + 10 + 1 = 22 = Phase out at 5. ie YOU kill 16 necrons.
Updated with Tomb Spyder = 1 + 10 + 10 = 21 = Phase out at 5. ie YOU kill 16 necrons.
Updated with 3 more warriors = 1 + 13 + 10 = 24 = Phase out at 6. ie YOU kill 18 necrons.

This of course assumes a standard FoC of 1 HQ and 2 Troop base.
