We've seen the codex, we've read the rules. Some of them we even understand!

So who's put together any grey knight lists?

My first attempt was fairly poor, so I've re-drafted, promising myself that as I've already got a DeathWing army, I need to fit some 3+ saves into this one. It didn't go well...

1500 points Pure Grey Knights:

HQ: Grand master - 170pts
GKGM with:
Halberd (making him I7!) - master crafted
Digital weapons - this bugger will kill something!
Free stuff: frag, krak & psych-out grenades, iron halo, storm bolter

Elites: Paladins - 370points
Apothecary with force sword (4+Inv in CC & FNP to the unit)
4 x paladins with:
Psycannon & halberd x 1
Stormbolter & halberd x 1
Stormbolter & hammer x 1
Stormbolter & sword x 1
Wound wrapping shennanigans HOOOOOOOOOO!
The GKGM makes these guys scoring!

Troop: Terminators - 470pts
10 x terminators with:
Storm bolter & hammer x 3
Storm bolter & sword x 3
Stormbolter & halberd x 2
Psycannon & halberd x 1
Psycannon & sword x 1
Psybolts all round

Troops: Terminators - 470pts
As above

Total points: 1500
Total scoring units: up to 5 (inc Paladins)
Total infantry: 26
Total vehicles: 0
Kill points: 4 min, 6 max

The GKGM, as stated makes the paldins score, if I get a good roll, I can scout a terminator squad or two to get into your face on turn 2. Or if you are an assaulty army, I'll take counter attack!

1) what does holocaust do?
2) If I choose to scout a terminator squad, can I attach the GKGM to them so he can scout too?

1) 12" str 5 large blast, handy thing being the bit in brackets that the rest of the squad (after whichever model you picked to cast) can still shoot too. Good anti horde/weight of fire.
2)Scout is after deployment and he has joined a unit, its fine.Much more fine than joining a unit at point of infiltration /special skill during deployment (the shrike one,which GW has also said yes too)
Its asterisked as something that is lost by a unit joining it.. but here you are already a unit (precendent ICs with command squads for FNP etc) You gave it to the unit BEFORE deployment, so joining to the unit means he loses it. (if you allocated skills after deployment it would be fine) of course you could use 2 skills one on the squad one on the IC.

Luckily for me I havent got a Deathwing Army already because I came up with a similar list, the difference I made was to use Kalador as the HQ and add a Dreadknight to bring it up to 1750. Didn't do all that Wound allocation on the Palladins out of laziness. Im not 100% confident in there ability on the table as Ive never really used a small elite force before so Im looking forward to seeing how they crumble.

The plan is to use the shunt to get as close as possible.
Caombined with Deepstrike or summoning to get into cc quickly
theres just not enough psycannons to shoot it out but I think that they may give good account if facing an assaulty army.

I can't ever see myself putting 300+ into one unit !!

Not keen on that interceptor squad myself..
and termie lists bore me.. I figured I'd go for a volume of fire list for my first drawing up.
My first scribblings-1500 gun line+midfield would be something like.

Crowe 150 (Named champion (quasi chaplin, suicide bomb etc) with clensing flame makes purifiers troops)

Shame I only have 51 left can't think of much to do with it, asscan on 1 razor, inquisitor with psycolum...wasted bling inside the squads?I guess if I go down to rhinos that works better in killpoints missions and might free up enough to do something usefull.

I''ve been tossing around a very similar list in my head today (it helps that it was on 3++ earlier & I was trying to downscale it). I'm not sold on Crowe yet, however, if he makes purifiers score, then he may be my only hope...

That said, I think I'm leaning more towards a Librarian (for the superbuffs) or a GKGM (for pseudo FOC bending).

I think the strike squads are quite good, especially as I'm not sold on vehicles for GK - boxing up those stormbolters doesn't feel right. But they are expensive...

On your list, I'd swap the Razors for Rhinos, then you aren't forced to split the squads & can still shoot out the top hatch with psycannons. If you can get combi-meltas on the rhinos (not checked) it's all gravy.

James std GKGM doesn't make Palaldins troops, only Kaldor does that IIRC

Liking you list more KMB, but I think the best builds are with combined GK and Inq lists. That's where I will be looking. I like the monkey dude and his obliterator style. Anyone found cheap alternative models for them yet? How about some toy companies, the ones that do the zoo sets?

James, I'm liking the Libby also, I'm thinking of maybe two with the summoning and dragging guys from one end of the board to the other, as they are needed. Which i well fluffy as these guys teleport back n forth like it was just like walking down the road.

Vehicles count as moved flat out when they are summoned yeh? So a dreadnought moves flat out, ok, nps, I'm sure he can still assault after being summoned

Movement, ok, let's see... I think I could use a dreadnought right now, ah here's one in my back pocket....., charge!!!!!!!!

Ive not read it much, just once through. But now I'm writing a list therefore taking more notice.

Yes, cool that grand stratergy. But I'm still leaning towards the Libby, atleast for this 1st list. It is not the list I think I'll end up with but wanted to try it out asI have the models for it more than anything.

Can anyone explain why the strike squad and interceptors have to pay shit loads more for incinerators than any other guys?

If you can explain to me why a GK gets a SB, nemesis weapon and a power for just 4pts more than a marine
