Rocking his pimp kane, and rocking along, looking like he might fix a vehicle (though he can't) like he has an invulnerable (not in 4th ed) and like his army wide bump is appropriately costed in hindsight of the smurfs (it aint).

I've kind of called LH out to make some new lists .. so over the next few weeks hopefully more army lists will crop up.
Less berserkers in a LR, less PMs with lash..less whatever it was I had with smurfs that might have worked etc..

So undivided...and fluffily mutinous/mutagenous.

Fabius- 160 points, (really can't see why, he should be around 140 I reckon)..biggest asset 7 attacks on the charge,FNP biggest downside no power weapon, no invunerable..dies to first str 8 to face.

Sorceror bolt pistol lash.. 125 points.. How gutted am I that even a fluff anti lash list needs a lash? :| (after this I'm going with a baragash list)

7 Possessed in a rhino with extra pintel combi melta 227 points.. (pure fluff, if I use the list more than once I might start houseruling a buff previous possessed experiences weren't happy)

Really -I'd add Icons of khorne to the troops, maybe the possessed. Add 2 more oblits, 10 points wasted...

Anyone want to try shuffling stuff so that in 1750 I can have a generic demon king come off a champion of possession? Nice story/theme there

Ok lets see.. batrep.- vague recollections..I welcome hearing LHs view, as its probably more coherant and radically different- he learnt stuff .

Quarters killpoints...ljundhammer won the roll off.
Ljundhammer took a proxy heavy version of a list he's been building (I pushed him into it), I think its a variant of this one viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3976&hilit=tau
4 sets of suits, 3 all comers, 1 missiles. 2 railgunners with sheilds.. HQ suit had missiles and gun drones.. 2x pathfinders, 3x firewarriors, enough fish for all the fire warriors.

He setup his dual railguns (with shields)with his HQ (wound absorber with gun shields) at the back in good cover but cramped up.
Fire warriors behind 3 fishy things that had some nice stuff (bought for the pathfinders)..turn one they jumped into them.
Suits were all on in a spread far back arc.

I setup as close to centre as possible, spawn giving cover to a enchanced marine rhino, possessed rhino near front with HQs in, I used vindies to cover fire arcs where I could..
I got really lucky with my random rolls, stable mutation for both enhanced squads (neither of the auto die options) and I got feel no pain on my possessed.It really couldn't have been any better.

Lh killed the spawn with a very large amount of str6,7
Immobilised and took combi weapon off the possessed rhino. but didn't succeed in doing much else, despite 9 successful markerlights flashing up things.

My turn..I zoomed my 2 troop rhinos up,disembarked...Possessed climb down ran across river bed to try to lash stuff (from sneaky angle around rhino), but failed epicly. Vindies managed to get good shots on 2 suit teams but they passed all their cover saves. My troops choices lit the sky with 2 melta and 2 combi melta and failed to do anything to the fish in front of me (sad panda ) Obliterator plasma cannoned his squashed up HQ/heavy but they made cover.(probably for the best as I was a bit optimistic with my measuremnet on that one)

2)His turn JSJ got suits killed 14 marines, yikes. but only 3 possessed (5++ and FNP and sorceror).
My turn- absowutwe nothing happens..I jump remaining squads into rhinos and zoom again (I forget to pop smoke).plasma cannon hits all the hq/heavy he passes all cover.(i think 1 suit took 1 wound) Vindies hit battlesuit squads.. and he passes all cover save.

3)His turn a bit of vengance, he gets almost no rolls to hit, those that do don't penetrate, well 2 do but they only get stunneds on vindicators who have possesssion.
My turn fabius gets out (and beats the crap out of some firewarriors), remainder troop takes out a fish, lash moves a battlesuit squad into tight base to base with another one.. vindie shoots.. he makes all cover. Plasma cannon at all HQ+ heavy, he loses a gun drone.

4)his turn twin railguns light up my obliterator..and then roll ones to wound (LH feels the sting)
missiles do not much (takes out a rhino, kills a man or two)
(If you haven't spotted thats 2 really boring turns.. I was stamping my feet in fury.. I should have totally outshot the crap out of him.. and he passed 17 out of 19 cover saves)
My turn..I lash hq forwards into my csm squad and eat it.. fabius takes out a vehicle (7 str 5 yummy) vindies kill a jump suit squad each.Obliterator starts battering a fish.

his pathfinders finally kill a vindicator, everyone opens up on tiny remnant CSM..but I put fabius between him and them..I lose the fist but lone gribbly csm howls in ragfull fury, passing all saves inc 2 cover saves granted by fabius extending his wings of steel.

My turn lash possessed take out a suit unit, mobile vindicator gets a (rather lucky) shot on some retreating suits.. obliterator takes out fish.and kills contents.

His turn he has a drone (dunning off the table, as I finally remember my immobilised and weapon destroyed rhino from turn 1 still has a combi bolter), 2 pathfinder squads (I'm trying to dakka the snot out of them (inc with the xyclocs needler) and a fish we play cat and mouse until the end of turn 7..I won by approximately 4 killpoints.

basically how cross was I turn 2-4 (grinding my teeth), and how bloody was turn 4-5. I still reckon it wasn't a "when you reach me I'm dead"..I still think that tau shouldn't assume to pass that many cover saves.Its just really odd that it ended up a true statement..it did take me getting to him for any damage to occur...weird

but awesome game..I only have a beef with the dice
Man of the match- fabius- killed 2 firewarrior squads.. and took down two fish all by his onesees. (probably missed that in the narration above.)

Reflecting on my GT experience, I would experiment with running 5-6 man Chosen squads (probably 2 at 1500) busting 2 Flamers and 2 Meltas. 3-4 enhanced CSM squads and Fabius would round that off nicely IMO. That leaves a choice between some Oblits or Dakka Preds in the HS slots.

I think Vindi short-range is too much of a handicap in today's Melta-rich meta. Also, your suggestion in the run-up to GT that I wouldn't get much return out of Possession was right over the 12 games, I used it only a couple of times.

Note to maths gurus: I haven't actually written an exact list of the above yet so any resemblance to a total around 1500 is purely coincidence.

Fabius +4 x10 man CSM with fist and rhino (and combis) but not taking what the GT lot cry as mandatory ikon of khorne.
= 1320 points, before adding a lash/ chosen/oblit/pred.

I may work on swapping the possessed and spawn for a third troops choice and fiddle the heavy for elites at some point though, cheers.

EDIT: CSM aren't that great in CC, I prefer the IoCG for passing those marginal Ld tests.

Paying for them to be enhanced makes them all fearless.. they might eat each other before the game begins, or take a casulaty every turn, but being scared after what butthurt fabius caused them isn't a problem (they are more brainraped than berserkers).. the IOK is a synergy with the +1 str, alternately you give them a IOT to make them sensible possessed.. but thats a tricky bugger and really is 400 points a unit.(in 4th I dualled up fabius with alpha legion.. that was some nice synergy right there.. )

List from 1st post..
Played agaisnt MR6 who likewise took crap, lord with ressie orb, only 6 destroyers, 20 troops, 3 wraiths 2x2 scarab lord MC thingys pariahs.

Everything went wrong.. dawn of war,one stable mutation in rhino at mid point..possessed get scouts (for which he allows me to outflank).
My army drives on, melta miss everything (no cover saves needed) my back up rhino are insanely hard str6 but keep losing men.Obliterator only just makes it on the table and can't get range withanything but lascannon which pings off.
He immobilises my troop transports sends in his assualt necrons (lord 4 MCs pariahs and wraiths) and kills off all but 2 of my huge squad.
My 2nd troop choice and spawn enters the fight and gets splatted (i'd forgotten how quick Mr6 was on pushing for things to be over so as to make me forget to use my second fist etc gah) on combat resolution (which he remembers and gives me time for) the spawn and las fist dies..
Possessed come on the very furthest flank..
Vindicator takes out 3 destroyers then the vindies are taken out.
Turn 4 is coming, I have a stunned vindie and possessed with lash no where near anything ..facing all his army -1 pariah 3 destroyers but + 4-5 scarab bases

Poo. (I ransacked him with a dreadbash 3xdefiler 3x insane dread + greater demon and demon princes to make myself feel better afterwards)
