Van't really see why you need, but the astropath is useful I suppose. The voxes don't work like they used to & given that your ary is mobile, hence likely to be scattered, I'd drop them all. In addition, orders don't do that much for you (other than the 2+cover save).

This squad looks like "I need that for the astropath, then I've got a few points left over, so I'll spend them here". It could do with losing some fat.

I'm not loving the fact that you've got 40 scoring people, all with armour negated by bolt guns, all of which are likely to be in the open when they are used. They are easily nuetered, allowing the enemy to kill them, then play for a draw at worst.

he defended the punisher by saying taking 3 of them will kill a squad a turn (teehee)

I have a silly banewolf question.. if you were a dirty player.. and you did the dark eldar trick.. since teh MM is front mounted.. if you set up sideways on.. pivot on the centre (earning an inch, move forward 12" are you now within 12" of those who set up just outside 24"? Just an idea ;)
he like you is considering a commisar lord. we really ought to thrash about the pros and cons of that :)
(I didn't get the LR btw, still tehres a few more coming up)

Looks pretty light on infantry for a 1500 point IG army let alone a 2000 point one!

first outing v nurgle damons, not one squad died, and almost all the nurgles did. game lasted 7 turns

second outing v BTs, 2 squads died and the others wouldn't have by turn 7 either.

driving around shooting 5 guns from chimeras is a great way to keep squads safe, and flying around in valks is even better. I would like to squeeze another transpport in if i could, but not sure wht to drop.

so having only 4 troops doesn't worry me too much. especially when u have soo many templates, shots, flamers lassies, its just madness.!! i love playing with it, it is very mobile too. Also when u only have 2 orders to shout out, 4 units is enuff.

Dump reg standard- you have to be in his leadership bubble anyway.(and when do guard draw in CC wtf)

Is this a competitive list King?
Just glancing at it, it immediately smacks of min maxing to grab loads of tanks. Are the veterans filling the void left by the old drop troop doctrine?

I'm guessing that the list is intended to overwhelm antitank fire with target saturation and give practically nothing for anti troop to fire at?

this was the 1st list i made bearing in mind i only had 40 guarsdem at the time.

but it does suprisingly well. yes opponent's anti infantry units are left with not alot to do till later in the game, while I fly my troops about and carry them in chimeras, dealing with his tank killing capability. the 2 colossuses dealing with any of his infantry foolish enuff to be stood in the open. so I will keep trying new things while i make more men.

so far my experiience would be vox is vital if u want ur orders to get thru, something i'll not be droping anytime soon, unless u take sgt. kell. even with this small band i've used them extensively.

the reg. std. is only for rerolling moral and pinning, i've used that a couple of times so far. the master of the fleet is proving a great buy also so far. the manticore is the best armour killer in the list and did really well in both the nurgle game and the BT game. it stopped fnp in the 1st and killed a raider and rhino in the 2nd.

single plasma in command squad now 3x flamers or maybe powerfist to aid any really small combats ;)

the vendettas have been varied, good v nurgle, poor v BTS. but that's all down to dice. transport wise they have been good, and would have been even better if i'd remembered their extra armour. scouts with a 24" move at start... that's just really annoying.

but there's loads more to play with...

Are you sure your using orders right king?
Senior guy can cast 2, if he's not in a vehicle, to units within 12.. ETC. (It even says a unit may not recieve a second attemptde order - something me and LH missed)
It just isn't that important for someone whose whole army is cowering in tanks 90% of the time , and the rest of the time leaping out meltaing tanks outside the leadership bubble.

Yes. i have senior officer (Command HQ with 2 orders) and he issues orders from his Chimera (which is allowed). He stays close to my other troops and positions himself ready to give the right order at the right time.

When my guys disembark he barks the order at them. for example last night my Vets with 3x meltas jumped from valk, he had moved to anticipate this, and was there to give the Bring it Down order, giving my guys a reroll against the LR they were shooting. They failed the Ld roll of 8, so re rolled coz of vox and got the re roll. :)

btw this is K!nG posting on Gav's machine at work...

p29 second to last paragraph on the left "an officer may attempt orders provided that he is not[..] embarked in a transport."..I completely missed it, but fortunatly LH had read it all.

sorry Toby I should have been more clear as to what i was meaning by "Which he can"...

So what do u guys think of my list now, with that revelation uncovered.

I am starting to think that the vehicles in the IG list make the army.

Yes u can field lots of infantry, and yes they get a lot of lascannons and h/bolters, plasmaguns and flamers. And even while the orders make them a little better a shooting, they are still very static and very vulnerable.

The vehicle boost given by 5th and the awsome weapons carried by these vehicles just makes them lethal. What infantry can deny a SM any save at all while stood in a ruin? Not even the lovely Demo charge gets those attributes. But the Banewolf and Colossus do ;)
