If you want the fists, you have to work out how much you use your str8 to hurt av 14. if your battle tanks are anti tank then drop the heavy bolters.. if they are nice scary jacks of all trade with a focus on scaring the crap out of infantry drop the lascannon upgrade and just take the 3 heavy bolters. Doing that to both battle tanks will either mean you can take proper anti tank (bump the sponsons up to melta) or take 2 fists.
I'm kind of confused about what the
LRs do - and in that confusion I equiped them for any eventuality. Not that that is a good thing, but it's where I'm going with it for now. I t sems to me that neither a mech, nor an infantry list can ignore them as they stand, whereas when I specialise, i'm taking a 50:50 gamble on which army I'm facing. The MMs probably won't help, as I've got 72" to play with, but we'll see (the demoliosher used his to great effect killing a whole speeder last game

)

The commissar is unlikely to do anything. I3 special character with a 4+/5+? Err no thanks - but it's as cheap as I can get. I gave him a plasma pistol so he at least has a role that doesn't involve executing my own troops
I quite like the astropath, but I think the staying power of the Commissar just edged it for me. It's fluffier too!
