New Eldar 1500pt Competative List!

Postby Killswitch » Sat Dec 19, 2009 9:59 pm

For those that went to Heat 3, Im sure you know or have seen my list. Well Ive tweaked it slightly. I ma or may not do this depending on playtesting, but this new list seems to cover all the problems I may have:

Farseer: 160pts
Doom, Fortune, Sprit stones, Jetbike.

9 Jetlocks: 460pts
3x Destructors, 2x Embolden, 1x Enhance.

Eldrad: 210pts

5x Dire Avengers: 60pts

5x Dire Avengers: 60pts

5x Fire Dragons: 80pts
Wave Serpent: 110pts
Spirit stones & Twin-linked shurican cannon.

Falcon: 180pts
Eldar Missile Launcher, Pulse Laser, Spirit stones, Holo fields.

Falcon: 180pts
Eldar Missile Launcher, Pulse Laser, Spirit stones, Holo fields.

Total: 1500pts

Bassically Ive dropped a wraithlord, 10 guardians with SL & Emboldenlock, 4GJB with shuri cannon for 2nd falcon, better farseer on bike, 5 dire avengers and 3 extra jetlocks!

I could perhaps drop the doom & stones on the farseer for an extra jetlock!

What you guys think?

I was going to say that your Troops would be too easy to kill, making it impossible for you to reliably win Objective based games - then I realised that they would be in the Falcons. :P

Where does eldrad go? are you going to send one falcon up beside your jetlocks with a troops choice... to have eldrad casting on them?
With the firedragons..but staying inside when they hop out?
I can't see much [post start of game] benefit to him otherwise (sat in a vehicle that he perpetually fortunes as it perpetual turbo boosts isn't that hot)

KMB- not an eldar player

How about fuegan instead of eldrad? My eldar army feels naked without a decent combat character like a phoenix lord/avatar/yriel to batter opposing hard cases. The option of fuegan is quite good as he gives your fire dragons the exarch powers, has a BS 7 meltagun with greater range which can ignore cover saves with crack shot and he is a montrous creature in assault not to mention he has feel no pain. A third troop choice would be ideal so how about 2 units of jetbikes and only 1 dire avenger unit of 6 including an exarch with a shimmershield (i have held a unit of bloodletters with this piece of wargear). This way you only need 1 falcon so can improve the jetlocks or more importantly the fire dragons, giving the exarch the dragons breath flamer and crack shot is awesome.

Just a few thoughts bud
"Crom, i've never prayed to you before, i have no tongue for it.
No-one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought and why we died.
All that matters is that two stood against many, thats whats important.
Valor pleases you lord Crom so grant me one thing, grant me revenge.
And if you do not listen....then to hell with you!"

Dire avengers go in falcons which can both be fortuned or guided by eldrad and act as gunboats, making htemone of the hardest troop units to take down in the game!

Fire dragons go in he wave serpent!

No the jetlocks go up with the farseer, I dont need eldrad near the,!

Just so you know, I won a tournament in brighton with my old list that I used at the GT so might not change to this!

I’m in the process of building a similar army to this one, without Eldrad but with Fire Prisms and Jetbikes. The changes you’ve made so far should really strengthen the army; it will lose out on any comp scores if they’re available but it makes you opponent’s target priority choices much tougher.

As for suggestions, the Stones and Doom do look unnecessary, you wound on a 2+ anyway, so what you give up (in terms of points and the increased chance of a perils of the warp attack) only gives you an 5/36 improvement in the number of hits. Compare that to Fortune on the Farseer where you have an increase of 9/36 in the number of saves made. This in a unit where it’s not its destructive power that is its biggest asset to the army, rather its resilience.

As for what to put in, I would suggest a Fire Dragon Exarch with Crack Shot (to bring the unit up to six models). As was said by TheColonel, it really is an awesome option, especially when faced with units in cover contesting an objective. Last minute snatch and grab of objectives is really how this type of army wins so anything that helps in this regard is worth trying. I’ve put EMLs on my Wave Serpent mainly due to the extra range it provides which allows me to keep it further back and out of harms way whilst still contributing some firepower. This again might be something to try. By increasing the range in which the Serpent can be involved in the battle it increases the number of places on the board you can find cover for it. These two changes should have the effect of making your Wave Serpent a more important target and so draw more fire away from your game winners, the scoring Falcons. They would also give you more tools to destroy other units in KP games and (marginally) increase the resilience of your Fire Dragon unit.

The revised army does look really nasty though, I’m sure it’ll be great fun to play with. Good luck in the tourney.

interesting idea. Id definatly consider the EML's on the wave serpent, but the serpents already made and painted and stuck on lol! So can't change that unless i buy a new one. As to the crack shot, its awsome, but that one shot which ignores cover isn't going to do much for its points. If it effected the whole squad id definitely do it!

Reason for doom is for the destructors, but I could drop it and the stones.
Perhaps add 2 more fire dragons (32 pts) and 3 spears on the jetlocks & on the seer (12pts), that brings my total to 1499pts if i drop the stones and doom!

I was assuming that an Exarch with a Dragon's Breath Flamer was added to the squad; combined with the re-roll to wound that Crack Shot provides it gives your Fire Dragons some anti-infantry punch. This would leave you with enough points for four spears on the jetlocks, again assuming you dropped Doom and the Stones.

Just out of interest how did you find the warlocks with Destructor perform in Heat 3? Did they prove useful and would you consider adding Destructor to more of the squad?

you can drop the farseer on jetbike as you don't really need him as eldrad and some avengers can follow up in a falcon and cast on them + you really badly need some more troops maybe pathfinders to sit on a home objective and give long range support?

all in all you have a lot of points tied up in one unit that as I found the other day will probably have to spend most of its time clearing one objective for your boys to take as they will lack the punch to do it on there own.

also be aware that your tanks will spend most of the game not shooting or crashing as there armour is not up to much so it is best to go as cheap as you can. maybe drop the falcons for more serpents and boost the avenger squads as they work well with guide and doom from eldrad
