Ork Mek Army For Throne Of Skulls

Hello everyone,

Looking for some feedback on what Im thinking of taking to the Jan Throne of Skulls

I like the idea of a Ork Mek army with walkers, lootas and def koptas

Big mek, kustom force field, eavy armour - He here to cover the walkers and the foot boyz

2 Killa kans, 2 grotzookas
2 Killa kans, 2 skorchas
2 Killa kans, 2 rokkit launchers - These guys come in at 270pts, with the kustom force field thay can take some fire power and draw fire. If any get to the enemy lines Im sure they can do some damage

Deff dread, skorcha, close combat weapon, extra armour - Have him because I love the model!

25 Boyz, nob, power claw, boss pole, 2 big shootas - Armed with shootas, advance behind the killa kans and gives the mek somewhere to go.

12 Trukk boyz, nob, power klaw, boss pole
12 Trukk boys, nob, power klaw, boss pole - used to grab objectives and be an annoyance

10 Grots, 1 runtherd - used to claim objective in my deployment zone

8 Bikers, nob, power claw, boss pole - rapid response and lots of fire power

8 Lootas - Fit the theme and can deal out lots of fire power

3 Deff Koptas, rokkits - anti tank and annoyance, objective grabbers

Comes to 1494.

2 second appraisel as I'm in a dash..

Kan wall backed up by lootas, awesome.. 1 grot squad... very easy to shift..will lead to a bunch of draw games.Deffdread what does he do for you that just modelling him into master Kan wouldn't? Not sure about the KFF being sat with only one squad and nowhere else to go...
Deffcoptas "objective grabbers"- no they aren't. And never think they are :)
I think the basic bikes are just put in there so you don't die of boredom. :D

Dropping the deffdread and the grotlings gives you 160 points to play with..

You could add a 3rd kan to the skorcha aggressive kan squad and have 10 basic trukk boyz(3rd ed or earlier trukk) who hide out of los at back and zoom to objective when required? (not great just trying to keep totally with your theme and change as little as possible)
I think in my meta I'd really want a second minned out squad of lootas.But I don't want to do that much fiddling.

Your right about the grots, I normally take 2 units of 10. One isn't enough. These little guys are great and have won me many a game.

The deffdread is a bit lackluster, has never really performed all that well, so I think he might have to go!

I do like your idea about a no frills truuk boy squad.

Not quite sure what I was thinking when I said deffkoptas were objective grabbers! I must have thought they were troops!

Yep - I'd consider a 2nd unit of them as people ignore them till it comes time to take objectives in turn 5.

The DeffDread can be a fire magnet or just ignored. With 6 KillerKans and Trucks - his only job is to run as fast as he can to hit the enemy or contest an objective. In Kill Point Missions he will be a quick KP for any Lascannon toting units.

You've already got 2 Trukk Boys - I normally plan in multiples of 2 for redundancy.

But they can be used for Contesting objectives except in our game where I placed the objective on the 2nd floor of the building.

Finally, when building the list consider each Mission and how your army will work

Annihilation - you are giving away 14 Kill Points - quite high

Secure and Control - you have 5 Scoring units and a number of units that can be used to contest

Seize Ground - How will you split your force to Defend vs Attack

Tempted by a buzz saw on that deffcopta? I used to be a fan, then I wasn't but other folks seem to be liking them nowadays.
