Plumes of thick black smoke choked the air around the beleagured city, the streets of Hive Malfidius were relatively quiet for the first time in a month. Evacuees had been leaving through the east side of the Hive for the past week trying to escape the tide of greenskins by retreating to the last fortress of Atlantius. Rough rider patrols had increased along that route as the ork horde had tried to cut of the refugees on numerous occasions.

The sentries had sounded the alarm. On the horizon the faint silhouette orky buggies and trukks was spotted.
"My lord orks have been spotted on the horizon, spread 50 metres and closing in"
"Tell the artillery batteries to form in the main trade route and get those basiliks ready to unleah hell." boomed the voice of Seargent commander Ezekyle Heiffann. The scouts ran of into the distance towards the main radio station to relay the orders over the vox. A strange fog had drifted over the Hive makeing it hard to see 2 feet infront of you but with their satelites and knowledge of the Hive it apreaded almost a good thing.

The sound of backfiring motors and rusted engines became louder like the uhm of a wasp. Guardsmen had taken position in the buildings lining the only entrance into the city that wasnt guarded by batteries. Conscipts had lined the road in self dug ditchs and with camoflage netting conscieling their position. Heiffmann had taken his position in the command tower some hundreds of miles behind the frontline.

The orks pulled in line of the first set of conscripts. Heiffmann boomed over the master vox "fire at will!" the first 6 trukks were suddenly out of warriors. A bomba painted red with glyphs of the WAAAGGHH! dropped a bomb which hit the conscripts killing the first squadron. Their bodies limp and lifeless scattered nearly a mile in all directions. As the orks got closer to the gate their was an almighty crash as the first earthshaer hit their battlewagon ripping it in two.

Heavy bolter batteries let rip at the next orks to approach the bate who had suprisingly been ready for their defense and shot one of the crewman between the eyes. The commander gave the signal to let them through to the city. The nob incharge of this ramshackle host who went by the name of War-gun the huge lead his raiders skillfulyl geting past the support batteries after losing a trukk or 2. Was giving the oder to abandon their vechicles when the platons opened fire from their hideing spots.

The battle raged on for a week but eventually the Atlantius 561ist had won but at a great cost.

nice but never heard of a rading party lasting a week let alone against a foe that can call no reinforcements at anytime

no they intended on raiding but had to ditch their vehicles when they got inside.

yes but think they are out numbered your guard have access to reinforcments and new armaments they have the advantage they must be rubbiash to have it lastb a week

well lets see a hive that means still citizens left that can be used as militia then u get reinforcemenst and [patrols to scour the city the infestation lasts less then a week unless you have a poor regiment fighting them

Marines are elite Orks arn't if the orks are bieng killed the degenerate and become weaker and weaker they can't survive in a hive city for a week like that when the enemy can out number them of shell the city to pieces
