A column of Space Marines from the Death Dealers Chapter were out exploring their planet, which had previously seen bitter fighting between the chapter and a large Necron force. The marines were in column proceeding towards a large group of ruins. The terrain looked like this;
The marine column had just passed the remains of a battered but still somewhat intact bunker (AV12) when they were ambushed by a large force of Necrons!
The Death Dealers forces were deployed and consisted of;
In the lead, Rhino Bedlam (RB) transporting a combat squad (FCS) with a flamer, 3 bolters and a sergeant with chainsword and bolt pistol
Vindicator Shiva (VJ)
Land Raider Redeemer Tarkus (
LRR) with 5 Assault Terminators (AT1 through AT4 and ATS) one a sergeant
Rhino Colossus (RC) transporting a Sternguard Veteran squad (GSV) all armed with bolters
Vindicator Trinity (VK)
And Rhino Antioch transporting a combat squad (ECS) with 4 bolters and a sergeant with chainsword and bolt pistol
Dreadnought Robustus with his plasma cannon had the point on the right flank
Also patrolling the flanks were Land Speeder Typhoons Flash (LTA) right flank and Thunder (LTB) left flank
Land Speeder Typhoon Quake (LTC) was on the right rear flank with Shadow Captain Kayvaan Shrike (KS)
Upon detecting the enemy, 3 combat squads quickly deployed. Into the ruin at the head of the column went a Devastator squad (DDS) armed with 4 missile launchers and a sergeant with a bolter and pistol and to their left to support them a combat squad (ICS) with a plasma cannon and 4 bolters
On the left flank at the rear was the last combat squad (HCS) with a plasmagun, a plasma cannon and 3 bolters
With the exception of these 3 squads however, the rest of the column was caught off guard as the Necrons deployed and moved in (winning the roll for first turn).
The Necrons fielded;
Two Monoliths, Monolith (MA) on one side and Monolith (
MB) on the other catching the column between them
On the marine right flank, a group of 5 Immortals (I) were poised to move into the abandoned bunker, while a group of 7 flayed ones (CFO) lurked in some woods and 4 destroyers (ED) hovered silently behind a small hill on their antigrav fields
On the marine left flank, 10 warriors (
HW) had taken up position in a ruined 3 story building while another 10 warriors (
GW) were out of sight in some woods. Behind the woods were another 4 destroyers (
FD) watching with cold detachment.
In another wooded area near a ruined building were another 7 flayed ones (DFO) their disrupter fields humming with subdued energy. In the middle of this group a C'Tan, a Nightbringer (N) cast its cruel gaze over the trap it had preparred. Without a word, the Necrons attacked!
Necron Turn 1:
On the marine right flank, the immortals (I) moved into the bunker and monolith (MA) moved forward slightly. Destroyers (ED) moved 12" to the rear of the bunker to attack the rear of the column. The flayed ones (CFO) rolled a '6' on their diff terr test and moved towards the vindicator (VJ).
On the marine left, the flayed ones (DFO) rolled poorly and only moved forward 2" while the nightbringer (N) moved 5" closer to the column.
The air suddenly crackled with gauss energy as the necrons opened fire. On the marine left, the warriors in the ruin (
HW) killed 3 bolter marines (HCS). The destroyer on the marine left (
FD) fired at typhoon thunder (LTB) leaving it shaken. The monolith (
MB) discharged its particle whip at the land raider (
LRR) but the shot missed! The other warrior squad (
GW) shot at the plasma gunners (HCS) and killed the plasma gun marine, leaving the plasma cannon intact. Then the Nightbringer (N) turned its weapon on typhoon thunder (LTB) blowing its missile racks clean off.
On the marine right, the immortals (I) fired at typhoon quake (LTC) leaving it shaken. The destroyers (ED) had maneuvered well having a clear shot at typhoon flash (LTA), their gauss cannon ripping through the skimmer's armor destroying it. Finally the other monolith discharged its particle whip at the land raider (
LRR) but the machine spirit was strong and this shot also scattered and missed!

KPSpace Marine Turn 1:
Now the marines went into action. Rhino Antioch moved 12" southwest and the bolter equipped combat squad (ECS) disembarked while the rhino popped smoke. Vindicator trinity (VK) moved back 6" to open the range to the monoliths. Typhoon quake (LTC) having suffered damage to its targetting system, moved 18" behind some woods to effect some repairs. Rhino colossus moved 12" and as the sternguard vets (GSV) disembarked it also popped smoke. Land raider tarkus (
LRR) swung around the side of the monolith and through the woods. It dropped the assault ramp and the 5 assault terminators (AT1-4 and ATS) disembarked.
{Quick note, I have the wrong size icon for the sgt 'ATS' but didn't realize it unitl this point, and wasn't about to start over!} Kayvann Shrike (KS) moved 11" towards the flayed ones shouting his chapter litanies (what the hell is he doing?!?!) while rhino bedlam (RB) swings around the disabled vindicator (VJ) and the flamer equipped combat squad (FCS) disembarks while the rhino pops smoke. Dreadnought robustus (DR) makes his way around the destroyed speeder and the rest of the force stands pat.
Now was the time for marine payback! The redeemer's machine spirit (
LRR) let loose the starboard flamestorm cannon catchin 2 destroyers (ED) in its fury. Combat squad (ECS) opened fire on the necrons in the ruin (
HW) and hit nothing! The sternguard (GSV) did better downing 2 necrons. The flamer squad (FCS) poured fire through the vision slit of the bunker frying 1 immortal (I).From the other ruin, the devastators (DDS) fired at the flayed ones (DFO) taking 2 down. Not to be outdone, the combat squad's plasma cannon (ICS) and bolters opened up taking down another 4 flayed ones (DFO)! Robustus (DR) saw that he had the other warrior unit (
GW) in his sights and his aim was true taking 5 warriors down. Vindicator trinity (VK) dropped a demolisher round on the bunker destroying it.
{note here, we messed up and didn't make the immortals disembark, we just left them in the ruin of the bunker. Lesson learned} The plasma cannon marine (HCS) fired at the warriors in the ruin (
GW) but the the warriors took advantage of the cover and suffered no wounds. Finally the assault terminators ran towards the remaining destroyers. They then charged into the 2 remaining destroyers easily downing them both destroying the unit. Incredibly, Kayvaan (KS) charged the flayed ones (CFO) {what the
hell was he
thinking?!?!?} and when the dust settled, Shrike lay dead in the dirt. All necron morale tests were passed.

Some damaged necrons rise back up; 3 flayed ones (DFO) 4 warriors (
GW) 2 more warriors (
HW) and 1 immortal (I)
The nightbringer (N) moves towards the vindicator (VJ) while the flayed ones (CFO) having dispatched shrike move towards the flamer squad (FCS). One unit of warriors (
GW) begins moving through the woods
{disregard yellow arrow, they weren't falling back} while the other warriors (
HW) adjusted their positions and firing points in the ruins. one monolith (
MB) moved forward towards the rhino (RB) and the destroyers (
FD) moved forward slightly to get
LOS to a target. the remaining necrons did not move.
The destroyers (
FD) take aim at typhoon quake (LTC) and stun it. The warriors in the ruin (
HW) pour fire on the plasma cannon marine (HCS) but many shots miss and his armor saves him from the rest. The immortals (I) shoot the flamer squad (FCS) and kill 2 bolter marines. The other warrior squad (
GW) fires on vindicator shiva (VJ) inflicting enough glancing hits to destroy it! Monolith (
MB) opens fire on the plasma cannon marine (HCS) but the particle whip scatters away harmlessly! The other monolith has better luck, targetting the sternguards (GSV) and scattering just onto the hull of their rhino (RC) killing all 5 sternguard veterans and leaving the rhino (and me) shaken! Finally, the nightbringer targets the plasma cannon marine (HCS) but incredibly the shot misses! The marine stands firm and stares back into the face of death!
Now the flayed ones (DFO) charge the forward typhoon thunder (LTB) which is shaken and has its missile launchers torn from the hull. The other flayed ones (CFO) charge the flamer squad (FCS) resulting in 2 dead marines, 1 bolter and the sergeant, and 1 flayed oe down, but the flamer passes his morale check and stands firm.

KPMarines Turn 2:
Typhoon thunder (LTB) having little choice moves 18" away from the flayed ones. Robustus (DR) moves towards the flayed ones (DFO) and the bolter squad (ECS) moves cautiously into the ruins hoping to destroy the warriors (
HW) there. Rhino antioch (RA) moves forward slightly to get a better shot angle and rhino colossus attempts to move over the dangerous terrain but becomes immobilized. Vindicator trinity pivots and moves slightly to bring its cannon to bear. Rhino bedlam (RB) moves 12" to clear the vindicator's field of fire. The redeemer (
LRR) backs around the monolith ready to target the immortals(I) while the assault termies roll '3' for diff terrain and move towards the immortal's rear. The remaining units do not move.
Rhino colossus (RC) takes a wild stormbolter shot at the destroyers (
FD) and brings one down! The plasma cannon marine (HCS) targets the nightbringer but the shot scatters over the warriors (
GW) and brings 4 down. The devastators (DDS) loose their missiles on the destroyers (
FD) bringing the last 3 down and destroying the unit! The plasma cannon squad (ICS) targets the warriors (
GW) but the shot scatters slightly bringing down 2 warriors and causing no wounds to the nightbringer (N). Robustus (DR) fires at the flayed ones (DFO) taking 2 down. The redeemer (
LRR) opens up again with machine spirit from the starboard flamestorm at the immortals (I) and the template covers 5 flayed ones (CFO) as well. When the smoke clears, 5 flayed ones and 1 immortal are down. Rhino antioch (RA) fires at the warriors in the ruins (
HW) but fails to inflict any wounds. Then rhino bedlam (RB) shoots at the immortals (I) but also fails to hit them. Finally, vindicator trinity (VK) targets the monolith (
MB) but the shot scatters off target and the assault terminator run 3" towards the immortals.
Now robustus (DR) assaults the flayed ones (DFO) bringing down the 2 remaining one destroying the unit. The assault terminators (AT1-4 and ATS) assault the immortals (I) destroying them without taking any damage. The battle between the flamer marine (FCS) and the last flayed ones (CFO) continues with neither side inflicting any wounds.

KPNecron Turn 3:
One of the warriors in the woods (
GW) gets back up and 3 flayed ones (CFO) rise back up around the flamer marine (FCS).
The warriors in the ruins (
HW) make another adjusting move while the nightbringer (N) moves towards robustus (DR). The other warrior squad (
GW) move out of the woods a bit.
Now the monolith (
MB) discharges its particle whip against vindicator trinity (VK) and this time the shot finds its mark wrecking the vindicator. The warriors (
GW) target the plasma cannon marine (HCS) but because they moved, they find he is out of range. Now the warriors in the ruin (
HW) pour a torrent of fire onto the plasma cannon marine (HCS) and he finally succumbs. The other monolith (MA) inexplicable ignores the land raider and targets rhino colossus (RC) shaking it. The nightbringer (N) fires at robustus (DR) but misses.
Now the nightbringer (N) assault robustus (DR) wrecking the dreadnought, but robustus manages to put 1 wound on the C'Tan. The flayed ones (CFO) continue the assault on the flamer marine (FCS) finally killing him and destroying the unit.

Marine Turn 3:
The redeemer (
LRR) moves 6" towards monolith b (
MB)
{sorry, forgot movement arrow} as the assault terminators move towards the flayed ones. While moving, 1 terminator fails the dangerous terrain test and is lost. Rhino bedlam (RB) moves slightly towards the ruin with the warriors (
HW) inside.
Now the redeemer (
LRR) opens up on the warriors (
GW) with assault cannon and flamestorm bringing down all the remaining warriors, destroying the unit. The devastators (DCS) have no target other than the nightbringer (N) but at least cause 1 wound. The plasma squad (ICS) also targets the C'Tan causing another wound. It has 2 wounds remaining. The assault terminators run to within 1" of the flayed ones.
Now the assault terminators charge the flayed ones (CFO) bringing down the remaining 4 necrons and their unit is destroyed.
At this point, the necron force has only 7 Necron models remaining and since there are no models eligible for
WBB, the necrons phase out. {That's the way we play it, we don't have to wait for another turn. Plus it was getting late!}
There are probably a number of typos in here, but I wanted to get this report done and posted so I didn't go over it too much. It's almost midnight here and I'll take another look at this tomorrow and either edit it or post a follow up with the post game notes from myself and my opponent.
