Incredible Apocalypse Batrep

Postby timewizard » Tue Sep 02, 2008 2:30 pm

This is not a report from my battle (wish it werre :D ) but a Battle Report from Dakka Dakka.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Battl ... 20Secondus

I've just started reading through it, and it is (like the title says) incredible! It lasted 4 days and the board and models are spectacular. Take a look f you're interested, you won't be disappointed!

Just finished..wow
I start reading stuff a bit like a grumpy teacher looking for negatives and by the time i'd got to
"Their movements were graceful and with no wasted movements" i was going to pay the P+P to send a thesaurus (the fluff was well imagined and conceptualised but the word choice was clunky)... but then it really picked up.. the speed of the batrep was impressive the emotion through the POV shots was well thought out the pictures and table were droolworthy.. the battle itself seemed to be quite tense (or at least that was conveyed by their write up)..
It was great fun to read..thank you dakka guys

It interesting that they also felt the warhound didn't do much for them (I saw spacks go down in turn 1 and mine just was a good fire magnet I took took the plasma blast and mega bolter (considered by many optimal\all rounder))

Who were the custodes and which ruleset did they use for them? (I could have done with a brief on who they were- were they the masters of the chapter asset?)

4 days! It wasn't that big a game!

Great pictures though which made the report very good.

The custodes are the guardians of the sanctum imperialis.
There's a pic in 4th bgb, about p4?
There's also a big army showcase in a wd somewhere.

By far, the best load out for the W.titan is Twin Turbo Lasers on both arms... Believe me I've tried them all and there's nothing in apoc as nasty as a D weapon... or even 2 :)

But by far nastier than the W.titan is the Orbital Defence Laser, with its 10" D weapon template. I shot it at a 12 strong deffcopter unit in last game, all with TL Rokkits heading for the fortress wall to try and breach it. One shot, hit, all dead, no cover saves, "You're outta there!"

Yeah saw this BatRep the other day.
Very nice models and terrain.
What impressed me the most, was the effort that went into the post itself.
That alone hooked me into reading all the way through it. :D

I know. I didn't see them listed either. They weren't the Command Squad, were they?

haven't read through it in full - but I have had a look at the photos...

A couple of questions...

1. Custodes models, are they GW models, conversions or made by a no GW manufacturer? Where can I buy a few?

2. The Warhound Titan - Is it scratch built or the real Forgeworld model? I ask because I'm about to embark / attempt to scratchbuild (more on scratchbuilding to come :D ) one of my own - I've got the templates / plans and I've ordered the plasticard earlier today.

Don't know if you can buy them, here is a GW article I just found about them;

I seen a couple of people using custodes and they are always conversions (GW do not make them). There was an army in WD a year or so back I seem to recall.

Get KMB to show you a picture of the scratch built Warhound he used for our apoc game at WHW.

edit...doh tw beat me to the link http://oz.games-workshop.com/games/40k/ ... efault.htm

The eagle on the sides of the LR looks familiar ;)

so were they GK Knights then in the battle, coz they weren't listed on the army's list.

It was mainly the shields the custodes models are armed with that caught my eye – anyone any idea where they are from (I’m presuming they aren’t scratchbuilt)? 8O

Would definately like to see photos of the finished titan from front and rear – and confirmation as to which templates were used – there are a few variations floating around on the web. :?:

LOL :D ... I did say I stole the idea…well copied the eagle onto my LRC and then further adapted the idea for my LR’s. Its good to finally discover the originator of the idea…The only image I ever had of the eagle was a macro close up shot of the eagle… his finished LR looks the bees knees!

I like the claws (hooks?) on the front of the assault ramp, might just steal that idea!
