the Eldar FAQ says that they can move in the Assault Phase after they DS, but its not part of the errata (just a clarification). since DS'ers can Run after they arrive, and the WS Assault Phase move can be made even if they arent Assaulting, this does make sense. :)

Had a truly awesome game vs Ljundhammers guard last night
Slightly modded my list more (its coming together nicely)

HQ- Captain on bike with storm shield, relic blade and melta bombs(the only point user upper) (185)

Elites- Multimelta dreadnought (105)

Troops- 10 man tactical las melta razorback (melta and sergeant in razorback) (225)
Troops- Full bike squad/ split 2 melta guns,Multimelta and ablative, and 5 bikes dakka with the sarge having a fist- bouncing them up to 10 made a massive difference (315)

FA 2xDual heavy bolter landspeeders (120)
FA 2x Multimelta attack bikes (100)
FA 2x Multimelta attack bikes (100)

Heavy-Vindicator (115)
Heavy- Devastator squad 4 missiles (they’ve been given a better paint job due to their surprising synergy of awesomeness they provide to this list) (150)
Heavy- Predator (85)
=1500

Unit review- Dreads are still good for sniping and in this list seem to get shot less than the attack bikes meaning they have a good chance of getting where they’re going, I miss arty farty armour ..it makes the IC more of a squad upgrade/coward.. but he still worked ok..The “ignore me” tactical squad (+razorback) went- I figured I’d listen to you guys gave me points for the dread and I realised that struggling to get the HF MM speeder to work was just taxing my brain and that 6 shots from attack bikes is comparable to the HF ..so bucket more MM attack bikes was added
-Yes I now have 10 melta weapons (and some str 10 and a las)

I’m kind of worried that I’m steering too far away from large hordes and tailoring to mech and meq, need to play a good horde quick, to balance. (I’ve got the dakka pred, the templates,the speeders and the bike bolters- but is it enough?)

His list
Command squad with grenade launchers and chimera
2 sentinals with autocannons
1 max plas vet squad in chimera
2 max melta vet squads in chimeras
2 Banewolfs+ heavy flamers
2 leman russ basic with las
(oh and callidus marbo )

We looked at lists and pretty much figured I had an upper hand (I’ve got a bit too used to only playing against 2 landraider/3 prism lists)
Played draw (capture and control) and then the hammer hit- we got quarters.(spearhead)
He won the dice roll and gave me first turn.
I set up as far forward as I could, dev and 5 man las in 4+ cover (but still having good arcs round central pieces of terrain),other stuff covering each other..2 main blocks of my stuff.
He set up just his leman russes.and put everything else in reserve.
I moved forwards(very tentatively..I couldn’t TB across the half way line, he’d just storm on with hi banewolfs and on a 2+ kill whole phalanxs)..I managed to shake a leman russ with missiles (nice)
His turn a shot landed inside my dev barricade- killing 2 missile launchers (meh)

My turn 2..I feel very trapped I want to flank into his quarter but don’t want to auto gib against the banewolfs..I turbo some MM up the table in my half towards the leman russ..I TB 2 attack bikes to sit right in front of them (craters inbetween).. and I decide &*%&$ it.. and TB 2 attack bikes right onto his board edge (in my mind I figured doing this would stop the 12” zoom then template throws (optimistic and rather dumb)..
His turn his 2 melta vet squads come on and remove the MM attack bikes sat in right in front of the leman russ..his sentinals come on and charge into my MM combat squaded troops (very wise it tarpits me for 3 whole game turns) His leman russ pings off a central mass, I think it killed 2 ablatives of the 5man las sat on my base)
Callidus marbo turns up and kills 3 bikes from the combat squaded fist side and(I think it wrecked the razorback that was shielding them from incoming fire too!)

My turn 3, gah his banewolves still haven’t turned up I still can’t safely enter his table half (this is some insane area denial going on right here).. 5 man melta line up and having seen the CC stats for callidus marbo decide to rapid fire the snott out of him instead of movie momenting it.
Dreaders gets in on the game crawling over the central terrain piece to get a weapon destroyed on a chimera (he spent the rest of the game slowly getting to sit on the enemys flag crawling over crunched up vehicles)
Vindie gets a full face shot through some trees and kills 7 vets, MM attack bikes on the fringe go for the chimera that has troops beside it (hoping for a big boom) but roll snake eyes)
Dual speeders and dakka pred shoot the whole vet squad. But he makes every single 4+ (about 13 of them)
His turn, command squad roll on, take some pot shots at the rear of my dreadnought but ping off,a squad embarks chimera and shoots vindie (immobilised but still in threatening position) Downs one of my speeders and removes a gun from the other.
5 man las are now just one man (lasless) sat looking very scared holding my base. He uses the much reduced vet squad to kill 1of the “his board edge” attack bikes- (he still had 1 left to my one whole attack bike at the end of turn 7)

Turn 4 bit maudlin my anti tank is now entirely tarpitted damaged or gone and he still doesn’t have those things on the table (grouchy huff) I split my IC from bikes and lock into command squad (missing (again..he has the worst dice but he’s tough so lives)remaining fist squad bikes jump to reinforce my base. Dreadnought gets into HTH with a chimera its just immobilised.. Rest of stuff looks for something not armour 12 (or tries to stun the leman russes)
His turn the banewolves shoot on 18..(I didn’t know it then but he was going to charge right across the board and massacre my base with them) more small damage done by multlasers, bit more damage done by leman russes, though not much (I think the las and ordinance combined doesn’t hurt my vindie) My MM combat squad bikes finally finish beating to death the last weaponlesss immobilised sentinel

My turn 5 (did he really just do that?.. did he just park those banewolfs right in front of my 5 man melta squad?Whats his game..never mind it all becomes clear) 5 man melta squad shoot banewolf- immobilise it, move up 1 on the fully mobile 4 krak on the immobile ..I nearly got a 6 against the mobile one… but I’m happy just to wreck the better painted one).
Dakka pred and remaining missiles open up on side of chimera protecting a scoring unit on his base last shot does the deed (after immobilised and 2 weapon destroyeds I roll an explodes which takes out 6 of the 10 man squad hidden inside)
Vindicator gets very lucky and pops a leman russ, the MM and 2 melta pop the other one. (that’s 4 tanks neatly dispatched in one turn with remnants)
My remaining skimmer just hurtles around doing max speed to try to contest his base in case anything goes wrong.

His turn (amazed at the turnaround) He sends the banewolf up and poison attacks my base (killing everything, bikes men, devs) but one troop guys is left stand showing him his private parts.. His men on his base scrabble for some form of order around the wreckage of their tanks..trying to work out whether to get the bikes the speeder or the dreadnought (all of which are beside them)
(dice say play another turn)

My turn 6 My 5 man melta catches up with banewolf and the remaining trooper on base sticks his leg out to give it a krak grenade too (it blows and fortunately does not take the troop choice with it)..Dreadnought now comfortable chewing through vets, speeder shoots others, MM attack bike remove chimera.. IC in middle of nowhere has an attempt to pop last vehicle (can’t remember whether he does or not.. its his last model)

I have his base (with my 3 bikes) 1 lone troop on mine, an immobilised vindie, a working dread, a 1 heavy bolter speeder,a full IC, 5 man melta,predator, oh and yeah one attack bike still locked in with one guardsman (we forgot about that..)

(stuff I missed we actually played to turn 7 ..and there was a bit where my MM combat bike squad ran away regrouped and charged again but meh, whatever I missed was just padding somewhere between 4 and 6 when I was on a downer.
I possibly should have tried to break away using the smurf special rules from some of those tarpits..meh)
Mine will come out as is next time, I think he will drop leman russ sponsons and add an astropath. :?:

Had a nice couple of games with apothecary joe yesterday.
He took
4 vet squads (2 max plas, 2 max melta) in chimeras
1 command squad in chimera (max plas)
2 Leman russ( 1 bog standard, + las and H bolter sponsons, 1 was the 29 shot thingy)
It seemed light- he said he was 40 under, so I stuck a couple of dreads down and we called them basic sentinals.

I took (well first I thought about using the last 6 lists I’d used but I realised they were pretty tailored to the new game, so I scribbled (yes I quickly scribbled out a list from scratch with models I had, ain’t ya proud matt) out my first blood angels)
Lemartes (jump pack chaplin who cuases fear)- (Leading an assault squad below)
5 Honour guard- with apothecary thing in razorback (200) [edit 2 melta]
Brother Corbello (apoth plus give furious charge)- travels with honour guard
5 Honour guard- with apothecary thing in rhino (200)[edit 2 melta]

10 man assault squad, fist combat shield (troops)

Whirlwind (I wanted vindies but I’d have to drop the MMs to do that eek)

I pointed out the strength of the army came from the transports keeping up and ignoring 3 wounds a turn (and giving furious charge)
Pitched battle 5 objectives.
I got first turn, opponent in a wodge.
I jumped then ran, My vehicles move up, my whirlies did nothing (totally mech list, all game I think they killed 3 people) MMs turbo’d to flank

His turn, he unleashed the fury and the dice didn’t like it, he killed one attack bike and 2 marines (that 29 shot leman russ is sooo crap)
My turn 2 I immobilise a chimera with the MM I jumpe my squads beside his tanks, getting a few charges

The game was silly, 20 assault marines multiply assaulted 7 tanks that had moved and caused an apocalyptic explosion.. 3 blew killing 2 of my guys and 8 of his.
His plas squad kicked my death companies butt..But I managed to lock into forcibly disembarked troops.. whole thing over with by end turn 3 (2.5 hours)Game over before the sentinals came in on the board edges, time for another game yay!
I don’t think its shrike wing- but it does have it slightly more modest plus sides

(I painted the shins of my black terminators muddy white to twist the knife )

He keeps the same list but drops the 29 shot thingy for the demolisher cannon one with plasma sponsons.

Pitched battle, bases (2 objectives) I become his grand vizier for certain elements of the game
I setup on just shy of 12” line in central block, he has lemans in centre and chimeras on far flanks
I get first turn opponent fails to seize initiative.
I concentrate all my firepower on that dang ap2 blast template and am rewarded by a weapon destroyed result (nice feel a lot safer)
His turn he opens up (especially at the weak flank I point out, where I’ve left one squad slightly too far away from the back up, trying to cover the squad on my base (which can't just dash off to assist it).. 3 chimeras zoom up and dispatch 2 vet squads and a command squad, orders that give lasguns an extra dice.. first squad fires= nothing (how gutted am I.. but I did advise the move so I feel daft.. 3 melta guns and 19 las shots should do something) by the end of all the shooting I only have the ass cannon left (I truly believed that should wipe out my whole squad.
Turn 2 my vindies keep pummelling the leman russ (now I’ve realised its still a threat because of plasma sponsons) I get a lucky shot with the cyclone that takes out a chimera on the fringe of the table, basically removing the whole squad from the game (they sit in the crater firing plasma at me still though)
My lone asscann wanders up shoots a lot of the command squad and then charges them, kills them. Somehow my big apoth and 2 ic group have wandered way to far off to the right, so I try to bring them back in..(slowly)
His turn, he backs away from the lone asscan with chip on shoulder.. dedicates one squad to shooting him, whilst other get in tank move 6 swivvle and take out my vindie (immobilised and big boom gone) the other 2 chimeras and sentinel shoot at the blokes holding my objective (kills 1) Far right his squad in their wreck and the sentinel beside them shoot at the smaller middle group rather than the big and badly placed giant squad. (1 death)
My turn I get rid of the plasma sponsoned leman russ, and drop a 2nd chimera.. He manages to drop my middle squad down to one man througha drive by disembark of a shaken vehivle (alo rotating so the squad gets cover from the big squad sat to its far end.
Turn 5ish ( I have around 6 termies left around the place plus most of the silly big squad still trying to get back in the game, not helped by a handy but brief tar pit with a sentinel and his ap3 leman russ popping shots is still popping shots at my big squad (also prevented from doing much by a vehicle wall - he has started to move a full vet squad in chimer to his objective..)

He sends in chimeras to tank shock my 3 remaining guys sat on objective, I lose a chain fist death or glorying (only got a stunned on something with extra armour)..

I send my remnant ass can over the wall to try to get to his base.. his melta guns ping off.. I try to take out his tank sat on my objective.. everything is hot and heavy and its all too far away to help now..

Last ditch dice.. I roll a 5 and kill the chimera MY BASE IS MINE!!!. And he beats my termie in CC (WTF ?) SO HIS BASE IS HIS..
Normally this scenario is..boo hiss, its always going to be a draw.. but \i didn’t see that one coming, I’d say that was the best draw.Darn fine game.

(He has his ap3 leman russ still and some remnant vets around the place (inc some on his base) and 2 chimeras slightly damaged, I have 2 termies on my base , belial leading 3 termies far right.)
Cool (oh expect another part of the escalation campaign up soon too.

Sniffle.. got pawnzorred this week..(loads of games)...abandoning the project log thread due to lack of interest...MP+T sucks anyway..so back to bat reps.

1st game against frog/mr6

He took eldrad yieryl 4 warlocks (3 destructor and embolden)=500
6 firedragons in fire pike exarch =116
6 Harlies with kisses 2 fusion pistols
Vyper scatter laser
3- Falcons with spirit stones=375
3- Vypers-Shurican cannon Scatter laser=210
2jetbike squads with shurican cannon upgrade=152

He kept the whole lot off the table in dawn of war.. (I did too) he came on all moving faster engouth to get cover saves but zooming along the length of table from point of entry..good cover saves and out of range of a lot of my stuff.
I Turboosted on, drove up and smoked etc..
And his dice worked (he's not called mr 6 for nothing), his bikes falcons and vypers killed off all my fast attack and my bike troops..WTF, I didn't pass one cover save, he didn't fail to hit- wound with one shot.
I wasn't tabled till turn 6 which I hold as my greatest accomplishment to date..

2nd Game Ljundhammer (resurrecting deathwing on my request) against MR6 (same as above) 5 objectives..but nobody cares or goes near them.
Eldar pansy about around the board.. LH drives up gets out kills 2 falcons..then eldar kill everyone. (no really james failed 11 2+ saves and the rest were butched by no save stuff)

Game 3- Me and LH need to cool off after such shocking dice so play each other- mid point james says "ahh so my dice are not as bad as yours"..game saved by the novelty that again LH immobilises his tank trying to tank shock onto my objective..it was a draw end turn 4, we carried on, draw turn5(and the dice said stop),but we carried on, draw turn6 draw turn7. The only difference is that turn 4 and 5 he was obviously completely in control and totally winning, somewhere in turn 6 he lost half his army.. making it a bit more draw like in VP terms..

Game 4 vs the elusive Sparky (who due to ducking and diving has only played 3 games of 5th ed-hence his snipers and asscans), after 2 minutes polishing his list was

6 man scout heavy bolter, snipers
5 termies asscan.

1532- by consent.(I hadn't noticed the extra fist till turn 4, but meh)

I dropped my HK,Dzr blade,combi flamer,melta bomb,razorback became rhino, and got the ironclad a drop pod.

I'm going first ,I setup aggresively..Its *%&%*%*^& quarters again..and I can't cope with how far away his ranged support is..and its killpoints so most of my subtlety is out the window (can you spot I'm already making excuses)
He seizes the intiative (damn you cato you took me by surprise) explodes my vindie, immobilises my rhino, kills one MM attack bike and 2 abalative bikes from the troops.
My turn, drop pod lands by predator to threaten back lines (and block its LOS across the table)..pred gets an immobilised (oh noes).I move up my second rank, MM flanks round into his dread it pops,He passes a lot of armour and cover saves.
My saviour my IC and bikes charge his assualt squad..and don't cause 1 wound (that ICs dice are so god awful..he has been tarpitted by 10 guard for 4 turns before)

Turn2- he pops my predator with scout snipers (wtf) His kraks instant death the MM component of my bike squad,he immobilises and weapon destroyeds by ironclad.
Combat- my guys still rubbish.sicarius is in there now, his IC is competant enough to be able to roll too hit. :(
My go, speeder comes down and takes out the heavy bolter speeder (his tri las is on the table edge I'm not going for that)
Combat still crap, I die somewhere around here..and HIS 5 REMAINING jump troop move out (shooting and being locked with my 300 points of special CC did......nothing)
His go he chases the IC thats running off the board..he shoots the tactical.
Turn 3 I officially call it as beyond redemption... but will play on to see if I can stop him tabling me.
Turn 5 he kills the drop pods, the armless immobilised ironclad,the weaponless immobile speeders..the immobile rhino.
I Kill the tri las pred with the lone remaining MM (neigh H flamer) speeder, who goes down to 2 missiles from shrunk devs..
My whirlwind is killed by 12 powerfist attacks on the charge (termies turned up after all but 1 of my melta had been killed).
He'd lost 5 of 12 killpoints.

Butchered by noobzilla. Great fun, but gosh my bottom hurts, the dice I rolled for the first 2 turns that meant I was effectively 6 units down and only killed 1 dread..gahh.
Ho Hum, shows that you all should be able to do fairly well against this next week :)
