OK everyone. I haven’t got a clue about how I could have even come close to have a win in these games. Today I played 3 separate games, all 1250, all Cities of Death.
My Army: Deamonhunters
HQ:
Brother Captain with 5
GK Terminators (
BC include Psycannon + 1 Psycannon in unit)
Troops:
Justicar with 6
GK in PA (1 Psycannon, 1 Incinerator)
9 Stormtroopers with Vet and Rhino (Standard load with GL and Flamer)
FA:
Justicar with 7
GK in PA (1 Psycannon, 1 Incinerator)
First Game: Alpha Fire Sweep
Opponent: Iron Warriors
This game ran pretty smooth. I destroyed the primary weapon on his vindicator and then used the termis and
GK units to slowly work through his centralized units. Having done this and placed flags in 3 of the 5 building I was declared winner after 6 turns.
Second Game: Gamma High Ground
Opponent: Eldar
This was the start of my undoing. My opponent fielded 4 squads of Pathfinder Rangers(32 sniper rifles????) additionally he had a couple walkers striking Scorpions and a couple warseers. Nothing here concerned me except the infiltrating pathfinders who setup in the primry building and ALL surrounding locations. This then gave him 32 shots hitting on 2 wounding on 4 with auto deaths due to rolls of 5+ giving AP1 hits? How on earth can this form of arm be beat? My opponent indicated it was cities of death giving him an edge, but honestly and open table war woudl have given him the same outcome. Any suggesting woudl be appreciated.
Third Game: Omega Attrition
Opponent: Necrons
Here I felt I had a good chance. No Monolith, No tooled out Lord, no Ctan = win right. Umm no.
Basically his deployment hid his main force from me for the game (all his warriors hidden = no easy kills for phase out. Additionally his single 5 man Destroyer with 2 additional Heavies basically destroyed my entire army with 3+ hits and 2 plus wounds. Honestly, in all my years of playing my Necrons did I ever get the rolls this guy got. Even when I did hit him he generally made the save or wbb. I think I kills 1 Heavy Destroyer, 1 Immortal, and 2 Warriors in 5 rounds of play. he however killed All terms, the
BC, all
PAGK except 1 and the 2 Justicars and 4 of my Stormtroopers and the Rhino. At that point I had only the Stormtroopers as a scoring unit and conceded the game. Had to leave for home anyways. Here I think I was a victim of circumstance and bad rolls..
Any suggestions of hints on tactics I may benefit from would be appreciated.
