40K AOS MArine Squad

Postby estarriol » Tue Jun 08, 2010 6:55 pm

Just started building these after KIng and TauMaul got them to me so promptly after ordering (ordered friday, arrived monday!).

Being out of date with SM, what Special/Heavy Weapons are the approved options these days? Can they take 2 Specials or is it still one Special and one Heavy?

One heavy one special. Missile launchers, heavy bolters and multi meltas tend to be popular because a ten man squad gets them for free, but has to pay for a plasma or lascannon.

Depends
Smurfs- one heavy, one special plus the potential of one combi weapon on the seargent
- so missile melta combi melta is fairly standard as a comp thing..
Spikeless Chaos- one assualt one heavy or assualt +1 combi plus one combi on the vehicle.
Space wolves. may take 2 assualt.. but lose the option of taking a bloke who leads them (if you still want to fit in a rhino). so will normally take one special and then have a wolf guard with a combi or similar.

Smurfs the tactical units are so underwhelming that weapon outlay is a fiddle..if your combat squadding your wasting 4 bolters to have one bloke sit at the back firing anti tank (no matter what you buy its not going to be worth the 100 points it cost you)..whilst the assulty bit of you is fairly deadly (2 melta/2 flamer once per game) but really must not have a fist (as a 5 man meq with fist will die before he uses it more often than not).. Or you take a 10 man who never really want to stop to fire the heavy weapon so its very redundant.
Either way melta or flamer is all good I guess.
