40K Tournie Team

Postby BANE » Sun Feb 24, 2013 9:59 am

Hi all, i am looking to get back into the 40k Tournie circuit, but this time in a bigger way, and i think i am going to struggle to get any interest from my gaming group. So would anyone be up for forming an AoS national tournie team?

Obviously it requires some level of commitment and i understand that not everone could attend every event we pick to go to, either due to time or finances, so the goal would be to have a pool of 6/7+ players who are up for it and hopefully we could get a team of 3/4 players from that for each event.

So if intrerested post below and we can see if this is achieveable or if i have to think of some other way. All levels of ability would be welcome, so dont worry if you have never been a tournie type player before.

Interested-- not committed, Wife has just taken on a new weekend job that may be messy for weekends this year.
If you lot end up near me I might make just the bar afterwards.

When would you be looking to get this off the ground?

I've not yet played a game of 6th (work, football, Dreadball), but have now read the rules and want to get into it...

I have had a breif look at the Tournie program and except for the ones we are too late for (end of this month start of next) the next burst of them start in June/July, so plenty of time.

Al, I'd love to get back into tournaments, it would give me the kick up the pants I need to get back into painting again, unfortunately due to me working away I never know exactly when i'm home so I couldn't make the commitment needed. I suppose you could put me down as a squad member though.

Mark, thats all i am looking for, as you know i work away as well so i would be unlikely to be able to attend all events too. The idea is to have a pool we can draw from, different people will be able to represent us at different events depending on there availabilty.

Sorry Phil, not remotely interested. If the next HE book is half-decent I'd be up for WHF (alongside DB and KoW) though.

Cmon, He'll let you be necrons, and play 2 games you pick to each one he does??

(mostly jest as I have no idea where I am right now)

Phil doesn't nee me to hold his hand at tournaments (well, dinner and flowers first and that's a different story), especially if he's going with other AoS peeps.

I didn't say I wouldn't play 40k at all, just not going to any tournaments. Besides which, he could quote easily find other peeps at the club to play 40k against anyway, he doesn't need me to keep enjoying 40k.

My bad,but at no point in listing the 3 games systems you did play were you putting them into tourney nutter status to highlight the difference being tourney rather than casual status of "getting into it".
So you are willing to assist in his training, be his sparring partner.... good good (muhahahahah)

I would look at doing the WFB/other systems tournies too if there was enough support, i said 40K because its my most far forward army painting wise.

Al, I've had a think about it (and got permission from the wife :) ) and you can put me down for the team list. I'd be interested in doing WFB, only ever done 40K tournaments in the past, but you would have to give me a while to get the HE finished!

I get what Sami was saying...

As for finding opponents at our local club - LOL!! My main issue is getting out of work on time to get there! I am on the look-out for a club nearer work...

I'm well up for it. It'll make me start to focus my list again instead of just throwing units down for giggles like I am at the moment.
