8000 pts Forgeworld game

Postby da_grot » Mon Aug 13, 2007 10:01 pm

Hi all,

Last sunday the guys at my club finally played the long awaited forgeworld only game.
The only models that were allowed to be used were forgeworld ones, pretty crazy, it then gets even crazier when both sides had 8000 pts each 8O .

We had 2 teams Fishhead inc (Chris, Stu, Pete and me)
and Wookie Wonders (Spack and the wookie erm Slate).

The game itself was a bit nutty with massive damage inflicted against the unlucky Wookie Wonders in turn 2.

For some of Spacks info on this check out this:

A final important note Slate killed nothing at all! and he even had a Baneblade

Looked messy 8O
We had a 6000pt a side battle recently, but I didn't take many pictures of that,I'll have to remember to do so for the next big punch up :D
If for nothing else, Spack's pics are a handy size reference for all the different ForgeWorld vehicles and aircraft. :)

Thanks for sharing guys :)

It was a bloody massacre! Turn 2 we got absolutely creamed, and then with the final lack of anything decent being killed by us on turn 3 it was finally over.

Algie, we've done a few 6000pts, mainly using Armoured Company. Looking forward to the Apocalypse rules, should make playing the big games quicker and hopefully won't leave the side going second with bugger all left on the table by the end of turn 2 :(

Slate's Baneblade did get picked on a bit though - especially with that dubious glancing hit from a turret (note - from the turret itself landing on it, not being shot at!) that took of a structure point and stopped it shooting.

I'm hoping Apocalypse will do that too.
Our 6k point a side battle was played for a total of 7 hours over 3 weeks at our gaming club. ( Eldar and Tau Vs Imperial Guard and Space Wolves)
Started to drag a bit by week3! 8O

I'd have to agree with you about Slate's Baneblade, it was almost unfair on him  . Also you knew it was going to be bad with Cobby's dice rolling.

Overall I was happy just to walk my knarloc and fly my planes 8) , oh and write the prices of destroyed things on the board that was very rewarding :P .

Algeroth, our 8000pts game ended after 3 turns, and that was about 5 hours.

da_grot, you did a sterling job writing up the kills :) That bloody Gnarloc should have died, and your Fighta too. Did you actually lose any models other than the Kroot?

For anyone actualy listening to us about the game it's worth noting that the kill chart was marked up on a whiteboard actually using the cost of FW models instead of PV's - a cool idea I thought! The game was great fun, but I did feel a bit sorry for the WW team - Been there ont he recieving end myself and it doesn't make for as fun a game. Hope the Apocalypse game brings things into perspective. Noticed the sneek peak for the new 'Stormhammer' tank on GW site. Anyone know anything about it?

Stu, it's a Hellhammer, not Stormhammer. It's a Baneblade conversion from the GW plastic kit (the parts for it are in the box AFAIK) which has flamer sponsons and an nasty flamer turret using the 18" Apocalypse template (not sure if it's a "normal" flamer, or uses the inferno rules for placement, I'd suspect it's an inferno cannon style weapon).

The Stormhammer was the super heavy tank that was bristling with guns (still no model as yet, but the GW plastic kit should make it easier to convert one up)

8k Forge World Game

Postby Cobby » Sat Aug 18, 2007 5:07 pm

Da Grott, you are in for a beating if you complain about my loaded dice again. Also I do find it a little harsh at saying the wookie (Slate) did not kill anything. He did manage to kill 1 Chaos Fighter, make sure you say sorry when you next see him.

Sorry I must have missed it, getting confused with all the other really important things the Wookie did in the game.

Well your dice aren't loaded, they just have 6's on every side.
