Age of Strife Road Trip 2008

Postby Spack » Mon Feb 11, 2008 12:07 pm

Edited by K!nG:

SUMMARY OF THIS EVENTS DETAILS:

Date - Aug 9th and 10th.
Location - Warhammer World
Accomodation - Approx. £20 - £35 per night, t.b.c.
Agenda - at the moment it is just friends playing std. games. We've all been asked to bring a Combat Patrol (400pts); a std. all comers list (1500pts) and then for the Apoc game, bring what you want, but your 1500-1900pts so far should be enough anways (maybe round that up to 2kpts just for ease of making teams).

Plan is now to travel early Friday and stay Friday and Saturday night, and then travel back Sunday when finished.

Confirmed to go:

Typhus

Dan: Nige suggested I (if you don't know me already, the forums are run on my server and I'm the one who breaks and fixes it from time to time :P) post here to announce the Age of Strife Road Trip 2008, weekend of Aug 9th and 10th. If you don't know what Age of Strife is (and half the people who are members of this forum were already AoS members anyway :P), it's my site at http://www.ageofstrife.com. A bunch of us have decided to have a weekend of fun at Warhammer World in August, and we're looking to pull as many people as possible together.

If you're interested, please post a reply to this thread, or in the Age of Strife forums. What I'd like to do is get a good idea of numbers ahead of time and try to get a group rate discount at a local hotel, and also book plenty of tables at WW to make sure we all get to play. Rules of engagement will appear on the AoS forum nearer the time, but I'll try to remember to copy them in here too - it'll likley be just bring lists and figs for 400pts Combat Patrol, 1500 or 2000 normal game, and Apocalypse (team based, not sure on size, maybe just 1500 each or so). Players can join in whichever games they like, and it'll be pretty informal - we'll probably start with Apoc, and as people drop out they can sort out CP or 1500/2000 games with other players. This isn't going to be a tournament, it's just a weekend where we all get to meet people from around the UK (or further afield - we've got one guy coming from Gibralta, and some possibles from the US), play a few games, drink beer, eat food, and get away from home for a weekend :)

Sounds Interesting. Count me in!

Strangely enough I just posted a link to this website: http://www.wargamingholidays.com/

The points value for the apoc game, could you consider 2k each? That way most people can field there normal 1500 list with the addition of maybe a Baneblade, etc.

Cheers

Just to update you on what's happening so far, we've got 30 people pretty much confirmed, with a few more undecided. I've book 6 tables on Friday 8th, 10 on Sat 9th, and 8 on Sun 10th.

Bring whatever you like, ideally 400pts Combat Patrol, 1500/2000pts 40k, and maybe some extra for Apocalypse. Friday will be fairly loose, just anyone who's up for going up that day to drop in and play if they like, a few of us are going to Rock City on the Friday night too.

On Saturday what we'll try and do is organise a few Apoc games with multiple players, and as people drop out they can sort out games with other players or just chat, drink, eat, etc as they like. There's no rigid structure, no tournament, just a gathering of players for a few social games and to meet people from around the country (and from overseas too, got people from the US and Gibralta confirmed).

Sunday will be for anyone who's managed to keep going that long :)

I'll post more details as we sort them out, but the basic rules are those of WW: (1) all figures must be at a minimum undercoated, preferably a base coat of paint; (2) no eating in the gaming hall, drinks are ok but not in glasses. That's pretty much it.

I'm going to ring around a few hotels in the area to try and get a group discount rate, I'll post details of what's available as I get them. It's also probably worth keeping an eye on the two threads on my site in case I forget to post in here.

Simon, I will be taking my Khorne Daemons to this little gathering. How about you, will your Nurgle Slaanesh force be ready?

We needto get everything undercoated at the very least to be able to play with them at the GW HQ.

And Gav/Si do u wanna go down Fri and stay Fri & Sat night with Dan's lot? or stick to just Sat night?

If we are doing a coherent chaos force I have several options. Chat at the club, its easier.
