Am I the only one who forgets to Go To Ground?!

Postby LordMalekTheRedKnight » Thu Sep 25, 2008 10:47 am

Hey all :)

im still getting to grips with 5th ed and its going well, but the one new rule that consistently catches me out is "Go To Ground" - i always forget to do it!

played 2 CP games last night, and i didnt remember to do it until halfway through the 2nd one (by then i was determined to remember!), and as it turned out, it was the wrong decision to make anyway!

at one point i took 7 wounds (on an Objective holding Scoring Unit) with just a 4+ Cover Save and still didnt remember to do it! 8O

im seriously considering getting a sheet of A4 paper and writing "GO TO F***ING GROUND!!" in big letters, and leaving it in the middle of my deployment zone.

so is anyone else having this problem? or maybe the opposite, that you are GTG too much? :?:

cheers :)

Wolflord Havoc has used it a few times to good advantage*. I've not bothered using it yet as I haven't had the need.

*used again in Mission 2 of our campaign which we will write up soon :)

I haven't used it either yet. Think I'll need to adopt that paper idea :)

We (me and ljundhammer) had a game last night in which I pointed out we hadn't used it, so he promptly did to sit on an objective...
I still blatted the pants out of them with a vindie a razor back a predator and a whirlwind which whittled them down but it was good to get some use out of it.. i think the thing is.. as ljundhammer did was to try to activate it in your own turn like smoke..and if you didn't you'd forget (but thats much harsher for the grounding player).. so with a bit of talking through it all worked well..still died but it does what it says on the tin.
I STILL haven't used outflank. my shrike guys don't want to stall the charge by turning up on a late reserves roll. My scouts (diffferent army) aren't kitted out to move and shoot (and if they are not at great enough range)..My stealer nids would be.. but they are shelved whilst I try to make tzeentch work again and the new smurfds with the WIP orks in the back of my head. (so I don't see me using outflank in the near future)

WLH has used it when he's on an objective and either the squad has little hope of surviving or he knows it's the last turn so GTG doesn't affect the unit in the following turn (becasue there isn't one).
