Anyone fancy meeting up at WHW between Christmas & new year?

KMB & I are looking at the 28th as a possibility - any takers?

No chance of me getting there, especially if the snow doesn't clear - we had about 8 inches yesterday and my car won't even get up the small incline I live on!

EDIT: 30 minutes of trying to get the car up the slope has resulted in the car now 10 feet further down the slope ...

Yes, I thought it odd too.
Mini-meat = no.
Maxi-meat = yes, kebab to the face!

Can't imagine we would get there, tbh.

Sounds like a hobbit house!

Try reverse psychology.

I thought the ladies were talking about the 30th?

I managed to get my car about 10 feet forward - with the help of two blokes across the road and 15 minutes. Only another 100 feet or so and it'll be flat enough not to need help. Grr. Looks like I'm walking the 3 miles to work tomorrow :(

Okay, here'a a serious suggestion.
Would it be possible to drive all the way back down the hill, turn around and get a running start and make it to the top?
Or go to the bottom and find another route to where you need to get to?
Just thinking here!

No, no use at all - the I live on one side of a closed loop, so there's no other way out; in fact, the slope I'm trying to get up is shallower than the one on the other side. As to getting a run up, not a hope - the road is worse further down the road, both in terms of ice and incline. Basically it's like a sheet of ice with 8 inches of snow on top, and down towards the bottom there's a frozen stream so if the car won't stop in time, and it slides between the concrete bollards, it's a much worse position to be in :P

I've got a 20 min walk each way to take my daughter home tonight, and an hour each way to work tomorrow. While we've got no more snow forecast this week, we've also got sub zeros temps all week and living a mile away from the nearest main road there's zero chance of a gritter coming down here.

You need to live near a main road, you posh farm folk. ;)

Then I suggest one of these;

Seems the only viable alternative!

But stay away from the main roads, they've probably been sanded! :D

Tis very handy at one end of the street I have rivers streams, golf, cows at the other I have 5 takeaways,2 convenience stores, 2 pubs, a bus stop and a train station all outside CBD.
I'm moving soon but I'm going to miss this super optimal location.
