These are all issues that a feel a group of well motivated and highly commited people could over come

These...

But I feel the idea is very much worth pursuing, because;
1-It would give the AoS site a real shot in the arm.
2-KInG and Gav (hope I got that right) might just be able to pick up some quick sales at a tourney.
3-AoS meetup commerative die (the large ones) and dice sets should sell well, maybe ask for advance sales only.
4-hunter could probably pick up a fair amount of commission work by displaying some of his painted pieces.

I know it would be a lot of work, I really wish I was in a position (like living over there) to be a part of something like this, but as I said, I'll help out in any way I can. I really think this could be a good thing for everyone involved, we really shouldn't let it die a premature death. At the very least, it is worth a shot.

There's my 2 cents (pence?) worth.

That would rule out GW and maelstroms place.. neither would appreciate other sales on their premises.. and punters might feel a bit shady buying out of (delboy) king's van.
It would basically be limited to promotional activities, or a delivery service (I've found them to be accomodating when I ask for that).possibly have a laptop so that people can order something.
Unless its in a barn somewhere of course.

Well anyone coming to the event should then already know about Gaming Figures so the question is how to maximize or build on that.

Agree on the sales thing. You can't do that directly at WHW.

The thing is, the main idea as far as any promotion, is for the promotion of this site. This site is quite well connected to GF so anybody new coming here will stumble upon GF anyway.

All these plans and ideas on how to expand AoS and GF are secondary to the point of do people want this event enough to
1. Make it happen admin and logistic wise
2. Make an extra special effort to make themselves available to make the numbers add up on the big day

Both issues i cant really seen been a problem with the right planning, communication and enough notice for everone intrested and enough exposure to make others intrested.

So first things first if we are going to attempt this remember is its first and foremost for the people of this site so i suggest we put in a quick poll for 1 week giving everyone a chance to say lets do it! or stop now you fools!

As long as we get a date booked up far enough in advance we can do the rest as we wait for the date to come round.

GW won't allow it this at WHW, especially given the store in the gaming hall. However, players could order stuff at the tourney and pay later (or out in the car park, in the pub, at the hotel, etc :P), or advance order and collect from Nige/Gav at WHW (again, in the car park, etc).

Indeed, but only so long as no money changes hands on the premises.

Both are issues that can be worked around though, especially once Nige's NE gaming hall is open ;)

lol My 'extension' won't be large enuff to hold an event of this size Dan... althought I could host a couple of games a night, so ppl could be paired up in advance then make arrangements to be in Eston, Middlesbrough that night or weekend, to play their games :) 52 weekends a year... they play their 6 games over the weekend, our lass feeds them all, and the next round all worked out once the 1st round is completed...

52 x 4 = 208 players. :)

being serious though... We are willing to support this endevour financially guys, if we feel if is serious and will suceed.

1. Increase the site's profile and standing within the community.

that would be our main objective, and hopefully it's the same for you all.

2. Break even financially ;)

that would be my next objective, if possible.

Not sure if it's too far north, but we have a pretty good relationship with the committee that run a local community centre as we use it for our regular LAN events.

On site kitchen, chill-out room and net connection (we normally take our own Access Point), along with tables and chairs etc. Its fairly big, and is covered for up to 100 attendees insurance wise. It's also got a fair few travel lodge type places pretty close by, being pretty much a minute from the a19..... They also dont mind people bunking overnite in sleeping bags / hammocks :)

As there seems to be a North element and a south element to this site, both who seem to be able to source a venue, how about a north/south heat with the winners getting a place at the final at WHW.

We could open the heats up to gaming clubs in each area to boost numbers, it is easier to get to the heats in your own area, and if you qualify for the final people are more likly to attend it as they have done the hard work alread

You mean midlands folks get auto entry into the final , like being world cup hosts and stuff?
