Attention tyranid players - drop pods

Postby Angelwing » Wed Mar 31, 2010 9:08 am

Sainsburys are selling those megablocks plasma hatcher toys for £1.87 each.
Heres the dakkadakka link: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/po ... 72802.page

Please bear in mind your local branch may not have any stock left, but it's worth a look.

I bought 6 with my staff discount. :D Look to the skies!

Edit: found this conversion idea for them: http://thetyranidhive.proboards.com/ind ... e=1#425928

Ork Kommando on Infiltrating:

Everybody else is like "we'z gotta strip down to be slippery like". Beakies do this, umies do this, even orkses do this, but Eldarz all like " You'z all stupid, dats why youz monkeys. Iz putting on 'eavier armor, iz gonna stomp through the jungle all sneaky like and chainsaw you stealthy like cuz Eldar's da best like dat. And if youz looks at me funny, dakka comes outta my face"

looking closely at them, there are quite a few mold lines and a bit of a gap to fill in with green stuff, but nothing too serious. Might get a bit tedious getting ride of the lines from all six however!

Its was the highlight of the trip...aside from the beer :D
If your driving by one, fancy picking 3ish up at listed price? (other places seem to sell around £6 each :( )

these generic toy counts-as things are the kind of thing I'd like GF to sell :D

I got mine a few months ago from 'The Works' for £3 each.

Looking to use all 6 in my next game of Apocalypse, 2 for Screamer-killer Carnifex, 2 for Spinegaunts 20 strong, 1 with 2 Zoanthropes (for synapse and Anti-tank) and finally 1 with my Doom of Malan'tai.
Should be interesting to see if Mycetic Spore drop is an effective deployment option.
And £18 pounds for that compared to just 1 Space Marine DropPod!
GW really missed the ball on this one.

I wonder if GW have a spore kit ready to go which has now lost all potential and has become a big waste of money!?

There is a white dwarf.. wayy back in the day.. that has the how to make a spore pod out of foam and stuff for a diaorama.. i chopped it up and scanned it into my "actually usefull" (very small) folder.
But its still more time effort and materials than £2

Right, I've done a quick job of getting the mold lines off (which is more difficult and almost impossible in places) and given it a an undercoat.
I'm doing just one first to see what it turns out like.

@Matt: I'll still buy one GW pod for my collection. But I had visions of them being £20+. I don't fancy spending that sort of money on numerous disposable transports. Lets face it, you will need a couple at least.

Heres mine!

Toys R Us (Oxford) had them in the sale a few weeks back at £1.49 each - I bought two - went back the following week to pick up a couple more - they were all gone!
