I have no idea of any of the above..
in my imagination I thought the following was true.So total pinch of salt on the following, believe anyone else whose opinion is different to it..etc etcBlack boxes were mysterious things that caused internet myths (and lots of
BS generally) although staffers seem to like them.
Boxsets were a really old thing that had a slight reduction in cost of buying individual units but were normally very sub optimal.(and being old the
DE one will have the shockingly awful models)
Spearheads were around/fashionable for a couple of years which were boxsets where you paid the same if not more for each model but you got them slightly earlier than some bits were available.
They seemed to get ditched early last year
Starter sets are awesome as long as you wanted everything in them,(although that 3rd ed thing with
DE was fugly- cheap nasty speeder and trees or don't touch IIRC).3rd and 4th came with terrain.5th came with really good net amount of models per £. They have since increased the cost of the 5th ed starter box because it was so cool and so many people like me bought 4 of them.
