A family member of mine used to have a interest and still does in 40k
he expressed a love for eldar but said he couldn't afford the game currently
his birthday is soon im unfortunately away me and my other prettier half have decided on spliting presents for xmas
and grabbing him a battle fore £42.50
How ever for his birth day i was wanting to get him a nice HQ AND 2 troops choices
i was wondering which hq and troops would fit with the battle set
I no he like the rangers :?

if he likes the rangers, get them for him - afterall, half the fun of this game is using what you like.

not sure what your budget is, but for the second troops choice, i'd buy him the dire avengers - i know you get five in the battalion, but a larger squad would be more worthwhile - plus, if you add the two together, you'll get two fairly good sized units.

hq wise you can't go far wrong with the farseer. if you go with this: http://www.gamingfigures.com/viewProduc ... oduct=3239 you actually get two units for the price of one, or, you could use the warlocks in squads of guardians to make them a little better.

hope this helps a little

Yes, I'll second the dire avengers. They are a good solid troop choice.

Does he have anything sat in his loft from when he used to have an interest?

Dire avengers will *need* wave serpents (floaty pretty things a bit like super rhinos)

I quite like minned out (units of 3 ) jetbikes..(one has a big weapon)..But they cost a ludicrous amount. Handy if he wants to run a seer council at any point (farseer and a bunch of lessor wizards zooming around the board killing stuff..not quite nob bikers.. but same ballpark)

HQ- eldrad and sometimes say he’s just a farseer. Or reverse that.
You guys must be keeping gaming figures in the black with all this trading and buying queries :D
