Forgeworld Baneblades?

Postby conscriptboris » Sun Aug 17, 2008 1:02 am

Hi,

to those that have purchased FW BBs,

I seem to have lost a sprue to my BB while constructing and now need a couple of bits :(

I was thinking are the FW BBs full resin or part GW BB and part resin?? this might present the spares I need, But I am thinking they are full resin :(

can anyone confirm this?

thanks,

conscriptboris

Is it possible the sprue was never included in the original shipment?
If so, FW customer support should be able to provide a replacement.

hmmm, sorry I wasnt quite clear,

I have a GW BB, some bits are missing and ive been looking everywhere, problem is that I have moved twice since i bought it!! so some a half done sprue has been lost :(

im thinking of buying a FW BB one, but if it is a mix of the two then I can scavenge off the FW BB the bits i need as the FW BB one i want doesnt utilise the pieces i need!

Got it! But before investing in a whole new model, how about looking for a bit site (few there in the UK andsome in the US as well) or post what you need in the trading forum here?
Just a thought! TW

If I understand correctly, you have a plastic Baneblade, for which you are missing a few (I assume superstructure) bits. I assume you are also considering buying a Forgeworld Baneblade conversion set, which will include a full plastic Baneblade as well as the resin superstructure for the variant you are planning to purchase. If this is correct, then I believe your plan may work. The variants use the tracks and lower hull of the plastic set with the resin piece filling out the rest of the superstructure. The only thing to verify is whether the bits you are missing are used anywhere on the variant.

IIRC the FW BB conversion kits dont actually come with all the normal BB sprues. i could be wrong, but its worth checking. :)

Ooh...good point. I thought that they just stuck a Baneblade boxed set and the resin bits in a bigger box and charged one's firstborn for the lot. This is how they have done other sets. I don't see why FW would bother opening the BB box to remove sprue. However, as Tim said, it would be wise to verify.

No the hybrid kit doesn't come with all the plastic sprue's.
It's one of the "new" ways GW/FW are cutting costs.

conscriptboris, which bit(s) are you missing? I have both a GW plastic kit, and a FW Stormblade, so I might have a spare.

Basically, the new FW hybrid kits give you very few spare parts - the rear vertical back plate, barrels, exhausts, spare wheel, the two parts that go on the rear top track section which the power couplings mount to, the heavy bolters from the small front turret, and of course the spare sponson weapons. You don't get the top hull sprues, or the turret sprue, in the hybrid kits. I also have a few other parts spare - aerials, shells, hammer, crank, toolbox. And even if it's not one of those, I may have spares from another kit which might fit.

If you're after a part that isn't one of the spares, then you're better off looking at one of the bits sellers to source it rather than buying a complete kit. If however it's one of the parts I have spare, then I'd be happy to let you have it.

@ spack: This Photo shows the top, i am missing the cover areas and the front turret, basically where the little hatches would go here and there and are all missing?!?

If you have these that would be gr8, anyone else have these spare?

conscriptboris

PS I have the weapons for the front turret, just not the turret itself!

These parts are all on the top hull sprue, you don't get them in the FW kit. Looks like you'll have to find some on a bits site - try http://www.wookiehole.co.uk and http://www.bitzbox.co.uk

The parts aren't cheap, but Neal at the WarStore has them too.

Don't know about the shipping though, but it'll come up on the website.
