Ok so firstly, i want to say a big congratulations to Matt for getting through to the 40k GT final.

Sadly, i did not make it through. I was in the same situation as matt going into day 2, and sadly for me, i pulled a right prick in my last game. I wont go into the details but the ref had to be called over 8 times during the game (a first in any game i've ever played) and out of a 2 hour game that wasted about an hour, so i never got my last turn and all my scoring units that would have turned the game from a minor loss into a minor victory and got me through!

Ah well, better luck next year i suppose.

Do you know what the idea is with the final do you have to take the same army as you did or can you tweak it a little??

Have you not read the rules pack? You can change the list for the final, it's the 3rd paragraph in the grey box on army selection on page 4. You can take a completely different race if you like

Ok, the guy ended up about 26th or something. Just under a good friend of mine called Dan. But i lost my sheet so i cant remember his name. Im sure matt can tell who he was.

Ok so things that happened, he was a world eatter player

1, escalation, he wanted to keep his 2nd beserker unit off the table and bring it on in his landraider! I said no (landraider is not a dedicated transport so is not aloud), this started a 5 min debate (arguement)

2, His Daemon Prince had Beserker Glave, now this means that he automatically fails blood frenzy and has to run towards the closest enemy, he was upset because i put a tornado behind his lord and forced him to run after it all game. this started about a 5min debait and the ref had to be called.

3, He charged said tornado but wasn't happy that his strength 7 prince with 2d6 ap can still only glance a skimmer because it's in the vehical rules not the shooting rules. 10min debait, ref called again.

4, He wanted to charge after disembarking from a rhino that moved 12", again he wasn't happy, ref called, 5 min debait.

5, Wanted to fire his defiler cannon at something he couldn't see on the turn it came on. (can't move and shoot barrage weapons) 5 min to find rule and show him.

6, Managed to charge me in turn 3, despite having to take 3 difficult terrain tests (no he hadn't frenzied) yes i had moved towards him a bit but we started 29" apart! i didn't queston it too much because i couldn't be sure.

7, Now i'm a Guard player and there is an old guard trick i pulled on him that he got huffy about. Now turn 2, his bloodthirster was on my side of the table, this is generally considered a bad thing. So i pushed my scouts towards him and plled everything else back a bit, He charger and i removed all the scouts in base to base contact. Failed my leadership as is normally the case in such situations and then because he's not touching any models i do not roll the 1d6 and a I, i just run away! he has to consolidate 3" as it is not a massicer, now he was not a happy bunny. Mainly coz his bloodthirster is now sitting in the middle of my army with a lot of weapons looking at it. another 10min debait, ref called

8, He tried to tell me that ALL daemons had daemonic visage and i should take extra minus's against his bloodletters. 5min looking in his book for a rule that i know is not there. he can't find it so he say's never mind i'll look for it later.

9, He wanted to get a ref over to tell him whether or not he still gets +1 attack if he shoots his bolt pistols before he charges!!!!! another 5mins

10, upset because i tell him that beserkers, even tho fearless, still get entangled! 5 mins, ref called again

11, ref had to be called back because he thought he could blood frenzy to get past the fact he was entangled!!! 2 mins

12, at the end of the game, his mate comes over and ask's what his lord's doing over in a corner, he sez he's been forced to chase the tornado, and his mate sez " Oh yeah, thats happened to me a few times". So he's telling me he had no bloody idea!! Bull!!

So the game ended after the 2 hour permitted playing time, with aproximatley 50mins being wasted and my V/O/T librarian about to butcher his only scoring unit within 12 of the center of the table, and my 2 best scoring units that i had left (other than my 2 tornadoes) 13" away from the middle!

turn 6 would have changed the game from him winning by 180 points to me winning by atleast the same.

So, no, i was rather upset after the last game, and thats probably an understatment!
