How effective is this?

Postby timewizard » Thu Aug 06, 2009 7:38 pm

Hey all,
Surfing around the net, I came across this articlefrom Librarium Online. It was posted way back in February.
Don't know if anyone here has seen it, but how effective do you think his test is?
I'm curious how some of your successful lists would stack up on this test.
Anyone interested?
(And I know this might have to wait until after this weekend, I'm sure all the attendees are just a bit busy at the mo') :D

It reminds me of that bit in dead poets society where the dude tries to quantify the merit of a poem through a graph.
(Note I am very happy with mathhhammer) Here you have certain mechanics that the bloke has considered usefull and therefore made worthy of tick good.
I do something similar, with smurfs, http://www.warseer.com/forums/showpost. ... tcount=875 and Tzeentch, core, transports + anti tank and horde and CC compensation for craptitude of troops mono role.

Note, skim read misc section whilst kids are screaming, they give you MORE points for *low* armour vehicles, More for not taking nob bikers and certain killer point sink units. It gives you MORE points for avoiding cheese as "you will not learn from it"..Yes yes you do, hardcore lists are hardcore.. to idiots they can be crutches to good players they can be made more awesome.(just get you a bad name), when facing 2 councils (not much else in the army) yes thats silly, when facing 1 10 man nob biker, the army still has 800 points to make up the downsides when scissors meets rock.Lash doesn't make vulnerable lists- you take a good list and then ice it with the lash on top etc.

Bit preachy, I accept that certain criteria should be met for armies, but taking an army with 8 power swords in is not the same as taking an army with 4 powerfists in.Some criteria are off.=result off. I'll work out my lists scores on sunday evening.

It's a funny read, but generally arse as far as I can see... It wouldn't work at all for daemon armies as far as I can see. One of the CSM armies that I think placed 3rd at the 2008 GT consisted of Abbadon, Kharne, Bezerkers in a land raider, then some 'other stuff', I doubt that would have scored highly in this...

Nice to see that the army I'm bringing for the tourney brings a massive 40 points to the fight - scoring a mighty [dodgy french accent] nil points [/dodgy french accent] in the assault section, but full marks in the shooting section! My DeathWing gets 66!

14/16 on assualt
22/24
24/40
16/20
"units under nine but fearless" Means that my tzeentch list gets 76 (despite having 5 man squads on foot)

12/16
24/24
28/40
20/20

My biker Gt list scores 84 (although I doubt it,as alot of stuff comes from units that tick 4 boxes, once those 2 things are dead..its much lower)
