The solar shades were an early casualty in this conflict, sheeting down from orbit, angels of flame, harbingers of fire.

The heat smashes into the shattered city unopposed now, blinding, breath stealing, deadly.

The ruined remains bake under that unrelenting furnace, once verdant gardens now lifeless, cracked vistas of hardened mud where once water played.
