Hey guys. I have a possible trade with a guy in Brazil for some Chaos Marines for my Hordes models. I was just curious given his listed items if there is anything I should key into as a must have and anything I should stay away from as a wasted item.

Now I know he has the marines listed as generic, but I know his pics indicated at least a few specialty units such as Tsons. I am hoping to get an updated specific list that is more correct.

OK here is an updated list he provided in a more Force Org grouping. I still need to get a new Chaos Marines Codex as I haven't picked it up yet, but what about these models. anything that is a keeper or a drop as unneeded?

The list:
HQS:
*1 Chaos Lord
*1 Chaos Sorcerer (Its the model painted wich thousand sons scheme)
*1 Daemon Prince w/ Wings

ELITE:
* Squad of Chosens - 8 models
Champ w/ power fist (this model was magnetized so you can swap the weapons) and 3 marines w/ meltaguns.
This squad was painted with the same colour of the others models, so basically they are chaos marines wich I use as Chosens or as Chaos havocs.

FAST ATTACK:
* Squad of Raptors - 7 models
Champ (converted with power weapon and bolt pistol, its magnetized too) and 2 raptors with meltaguns.

TROOPS:
* Squad of Berserkers - 8 models
Champion with power fist.

* Squad of Chaos marines - 10 models
Champ with power fist and 2 chaos marines with meltaguns.

* Squad of Chaos marines - 10 models
Champ with power fist (magnetized) and 2 chaos marines with meltaguns.

* 3 Rhinos
All painted with the army scheme so all the 3 troops squads have transports.

HEAVY:
* Havocs - 6 models
2 w/ lascannons, 2/w missile launcher and 2 w/ autocannons. Pay attention here, you need some extra models to use this as a squad, you can use the chosens models or add some of my unpainted models. I can´t found the points to use both squads at 2000 pts level so I just swap between the 2 squads.

* Squad of obliterators - 3 models

One mistake from my part! There´s only 6 obliterators not 9

* 1 chaos Predator - Magnetized, I can send all the predator´s weapons.

Greater Daemon(Keeper of Secrets)

I can say that the painting appears to be solid without me needing to strip and redo. Also the Oblits are what appears to be the newer model and not the old metal.

kmb is your best bet for going over an CSM list. Looking at the models, I'd say the only thing you'll be missing is a defiler (or two) and some daemons if you wanted any (generic ones).

oooh just spotted you have no bikes or terminators... kmb can tell you if you want them or not.

As a base it all looks pretty solid to me.
Nothing redundant ('cept foc restrictions of course).
Possibly the main section to have a look at is a bit more variety re-special weapons.

Bikes and termies are a personal choice.
I like them, lots.

Bikers and terminators, terminators and bikers, terminator bikers and biker terminators and...

Must haves
DP with wings- obvious HQ and buying them wings makes them fairly expensive off the shelf. (see what it looks like first)

Raptors- led silly expensive,look pretty and fairly cheap points wise.

Obliterators- expensive led, vital to your force.

Greater demon KOS, pretty led expensive, you won't use the greater demon that much in a CSM force but its a fun experiment (you evenutally get board of having to focus your whole list around him.. but he is fun for a while) and you could use him as a wingless DP if pushed.(good lash potential)

good to maybes
Preds are good (with all weapon load outs handy in a smurf dex more than anything)
Havocs- its tricky getting special\heavy weapons that are chaos- you generally have to buy them off GW- so if your not up for modding from smurfs available a dime a dozen off the webz, then you'll want some gun barrels sticking out of demon mouths etc.(especially the autocannons)
Rhinos- always usefull if you don't have enough transports and a good chasis to build other stuff off (e.g. VDR, razorbacks and turreted preds)
CSM for same reason as havocs
Lord- If its from the new chaos release its plastic with 100 bitz, the sprus were awesome have a look on warseers rumour round up.

Not really needed
Beserkers and sorceror, sorceror isn't very great efficency wise and everyone from 3rd ed seems to have a glut of them (I have 6).. and if the US is like the UK beserkers have been in every box set since time began and you can buy a swarm of them for a song (I'm still trying to find a place for my 60 or so.. but they just won't sell because everyone has them)

edit oh and termies are definitly the Sh1tz, but ending up with the old led ones is a pain in the bum, I'd suggest getting a few of those dirt cheap imperial ones from the AOBR boxset and chaosifying them, makes them a load cheaper and a lot easier to model to your preferred dark god. (I have 5 chaos termies, I've turned one into an oblit, and keep the others locked up.. I nearly always use imperials (cut up or not) now adays...

No problems. Your feedback still fits. The only 'extra' I am getting is the zerkers, which I will use, I just don't need more of. I will probably get the codex and start mapping some build outs once I actually get the models. The guy is out of the country, so I don't know how long shipping will end up taking. Hopefully it doesn't kill me on cost either.

OK I got the models today. Honestly, I am VERY happy with the paint work. It is done to a tabletop+ standard and is very nicely done. Due to shipping breakages I have a few repairs, and will have some paint touch up to do. After that though I need to paint a small handful of figs and I will be fully ready to play.
