The problem is the silver then ink is easy.. everything else is HARD..
Rust is the best looking imo

Then bright pink is the way to show you are the only 40k player who knows how to have fun.

.. Even mr 6 is still mostly silver, he just uses the really really old egyptian destoryers and the really really new model everything else and sticks golds and reds on as secondary schemes over the silver.

Sounds like silver with a few bits here or there is the answer then..

You also have the added plus side that 3 immortals painted mud brown and joker purple aren't going to be bought as readily on fleabay when you move on- silver is the new black for necrons in that everyones look the same so can swap out without getting out the gearfluid/acid wash paint stripper of doom.

I did see a really good one once that was done in a sort of bone colour to make it look like it was enamelled. Don't know how it was done, it was obviously done initially as a bone colour but don't know how the enamel effect was done.

Sounds like army painter or a skelliebob tutorial would do for you then.
I kind of like bone and turquoise.

If, however, you want instructions on dead easy rust, let me know.

As a fellow not great painter.. I like the idea you've gone from
Silver-- ink black
to the dizzying heights of
Bleached bone-- dipped in brown dip.

Heres a page with a load of people arguing over which 7 step shades to tone through to do it like those people better than me do it.

Post away. I have a bunch of Necrons in a rust paint style that I need to match now.

You know I've got a bit of a nasty idea that I got this from somebody here, but can't quite remember.
If I'm treading on toes then, apologies.

That ^ was black undercoat, gunmetal then black wash.
Over that, stipple on dark brown (scorched brown) mid (vermin fur) then orange.
Orange sounds as if it will be way ott, but used sparingly its fine.
Then 2x coats of brown (chestnut) wash.

Its a lot of steps, but you could do this in your sleep.
