Yeah I'm definitely up for blog style tale of X-gamers. The first month should also to include a HQ and two troop choices so we get started with a game legal list.

Nige I don't need more excuses to buy more I have a huge list still. As for a Manta if you're buying fella!

being sad and having to much time on my hands at work some times i have created a excl sheet to work out total points and the amount of stuff i got painted. i got around 20,000 points of eldar and almost 90% of it is painted if i remember. it is a good incentive to keep track of how well you are doing getting it all done :)
but yes getting rid of things you are not going to use is a good idea. after all how much can you use in a game?

What has Jay got and what percentage or points value has he painted. And what have you all still got to paint...?? :|

I'm thinking for the purpose of this we have game a month with only what we've painted in the log and do a battle report with it (for those that want to game). Start with 500pts for the first months target then roll on every month with a 250pts pledge, with the limits being a minimum number not a ceiling (after it's about painting more not less).

If a participant fails to meet a target they will bear a mark of shame until they have caught up. Then we could have a mark of redemption and a Mark of glory for continual effort (That's if Spack, TW or Talus can arrange for such things that is?). I'd hope lighthearted banter on here would provide a narrative over time as things get going.

Obviously there would be more details to add to this like mid term goals and end results. How many points in total are going for and for how long (I know one question will answer the other). But it's a start!

I don't know how many points I have but my goal is to paint a standard guard army (no IA stuff) and a Militarum airborne formation. This will total about 120-150 infantry for the guard, 4x chimera, 4x russ, 3x bally, 3x Hyrda/Wyvern and then all the various Elite, HQ and fast attack options (sans rough riders). I'll probs be picking up another valk, some taruoxs (depending on convertibility) and I have a Avenger & Baneblade as well. All my models are not built and mostly stripped. A end goal/reward would be good, like a campaign or even a reward?

that is a really good idea. a campain is something to build to and once you paint everything you can reward your self getting more stuff but you have to hold off getting anything before then to make it count lol

Ok I'm all up for it. So where do we go from here?

500 points to paint up from our untainted lot?

Foc?
Vehicles?
Other restrictions, inclusions?

Do we just declare our lists that we are going to paint here so full disclosure. After all it's a bit of fun to encourage painting as you said, so I have no problems writing my list here for all to see and then compare to the progress/results we get. :)

Ideally we could do with a fourth...

A fourth would be good. I'll have another ask of Peter. He was interested by the concept but didn't seem to be to enthused about actually doing anything.

I don't think we need to declare a list up front but we will need to paint with an eye towards making a game legal army list apart from that anything goes. I think if we aim for a minimum painted list of 2k by the end (that'll be 7 months). We could end with an Apoc battle played with all the units painted in the log regardless of points totals, as an incentive to paint more than the minimum. I think we should also plan something for the 3-4 month mark, but there is plenty of time to think about that just yet.

If I can just jump in here....

Since you gentlemen have declared a "game on" I propose that at the end of the "event" the winner of the games gets a special "Top Gun" medal.
We could even do a second ant third place.

Thoughts?

Yup! That was the inspiration!

I wouldn't do a mark of shame medal, I reckon you lot will do a good enough job of that in the posts! ;)
