Recent Acquisitions (Jet Bikes)

Postby jlong05 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 6:59 pm

So, through a recent bulk purchase I got 2 old edition(1st/2nd) Imperial Jet Bikes. These are the old 2 piece metal models. No riders and they are bare metal. They appear a little small compared to regular bikes, so my question is if these are worth using in game to represent special characters or not. I was thinking of using them as Sergeant bikes maybe. My only problem would be the plastic riders would be a lot bigger than the model. I may need to mod the some to give better handlebars and such.

Or would I be better off trading them to a collector for the nostalgia aspect and get something more current to use in-game?

If you decide to trade I'd be interested in at least one of them to add to my RT IG box. I think I've got 2 IG riders kicking around in there already with no bike/horse.

I think they are hella cool and would buy them so it is up to you. There is a market naturally so it is up to you. Is it worth more to you than it would be to someone else?

Well I don't have the Commissars that may have originally rode on them and also I noticed I am missing the bottom foot pad/wing bit for each bike. I am checking to see if the original owner may still have the bits kicking around. As for selling, I really have no idea what they would be worth, especially missing that particular bit, although I bet I could fabricate that part from Plasticard if needed.

I think you should hold onto them, I love using the older figures in my armies, so having some jet bikes could be a cool addition for a commander's ride.

So now, I dont know if the bit is missing or not. Found another pic of 3 assembled and painted bikes that do not have the wing and foot base bit. Anyone know where I could track down a complete list of parts for these old bikes? It is the same as this bike(without the bottom foot base and wings.

Here is the old Citadel catalogue pic:

So there should be 3 parts - fairing, engine, fin.

There were only three parts for those bikes, and it appears all there.

Front bit (fairing WITH twin-linked bolters - yes, they are there), Engine/seat and stabiliser fin.

Spack, cheers for the link. That was exactly what I was looking For. It appears then that I am missing the stabilizer piece. I am hopeful the original owner is able to find the missing bits.
