Ripped off or not?

Postby KInG » Fri Sep 05, 2008 8:57 pm

I bought a land raider on ebay, the advert looked like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=005

the tank arrived like this:

Image

both sponson canopies are in half and the inner lascannon is just able to go where ever u place it, independant of the outter one.

the sensors on the top of the sponsons were both off and the p.mounted storm bolter fell off also, been re glued a few times it would seem.

should i feel upset?

hmm, im not sure (and im not sure its for me to say...). it doesnt say how well its been built, it is down as "used", and the Sponsons do move (maybe not as well as you would have liked...).

maybe write this one off to you and the seller having different assembly standards, and be sure to ask more questions next time this sort of thing might happen ("have any parts broken off and been repaired?", "do all the weapons move or have any been glued in place?" etc), especially when the pic is basically a big black blob.

as an aside, and i hope you dont mind me asking mate, but wouldnt it have been cheaper for you to buy one from GW through your Gaming Figures account? or were you trying to avoid the hassle of cleaning and assembling it?

cheers :)

I would be! The sensor appears to be affixed to the sponson in the ebay photo, but that shows the RH sponson, your pic is of the LH sponson. Admittedly, the seller did say;
"The front ramp and heavy bolters and side Sponsons all move"
He just failed to mention that the lascannon move independently!
I would be less upset about the cannons (they could probably be repaired) but I would be furious about the sensor not being on the model! I would contact the seller and ask about the missing piece, and naturally your feedback will include all the details of the transaction and the condition of the product.

just to clarify, were the parts included but broken off, or missing altogether? (if missing, i would be furious and demand they were replaced immediately or i want to return it for a full refund, including the cost to return)

Well there were other things too Tim,

I sent him a message:

-----------
Hi, I just recieved the Land Raider:

http://www.ageofstrife.com/modules.php? ... 3266#23266

I have to say that I'm not very happy that you did not mention the damage to the sponsons. Also the packaging could have been a little better, having models up against the side of a box with nothing to cushion the 'rough ride' has resulted in the sensors on the sponsons coming off and the p.mounted storm bolter.
Also postage was £2.66. For the £5.72 you charge I would have expected the packaging to be fantastic.
I look forwardto hearing your comments.
Kind regards, KInG_01

the box he sent it in needed the raider on it's side at an angle to get it in, 18cm x 13cm x 13cm outside dimensions!!!

lol oh it gets worse, the bottom support of one sponson has now come off... not that that really matters either cos the sponsons are all gonna have to come off now - it's a good job I have spares.

I'd be a bit miffed at the lousy packing actually. That is what caused the broken bits I expect. Very pricey postage too, but you did read the postage details before bidding right?
I don't think that there is much you can do except put a few stars less on the postage/packing bit of the feedback.

It doesn't help my snap judgement that his is a picture of the right hand side yours is a picture of the left hand side.. If you take a picture of the angle and it doesn't look like the pic (which he refers to in the text and uses to say how it appears) then yeah you got jipped.

basically to trigger my nerd rage you need a picture of the box and a like for like picture of the LR (as described and as recieved).
After that if he doesn't respond in a timely manner ask mr6 what to do (cause he seems to resolve all ebay problems to his satisfaction ridiculously fast)
I'd also suggest that the item appears insured for £36 and claiming from the baggage throwers might be a good idea.. but you need the other gyus help to do that I think.

i took a picture of both sides of the raider, but other was blurred a bit, but they are identical.

the canopy that goes over the TL lassies, he obvioulsy only had one, so he's cut it in half and stuck it on the outer edge of the sponsons to make it look like they are 2 whole ones.

thanks Ruffian, but, I have all the bits needed, but I was just posting coz i was disappointed, and wanted to vent my frustration... also to find out if i was right to be frustrated.

i swore ages ago, i would never buy again from ebay having bought a s**t monolith in my early days. i love my models too much to put anything on the table that looks shabby.

but this time I got lazy, and thought i would gamble one more time... so really i blame myself for the purchase.
