Shout out to matty!

Postby MarzM » Wed Dec 06, 2006 12:01 am

Matty,
Have you still got the result sheet from heat3?

If so, what was the name of the guy i got in the 6th game?

He finished mid twenty's, and he was one place below a guy called Dan. I can't remember his second name but i begins with a P.

Was his name craig? Or am i mistaken? I can't remember!

You know, you could try the "pm" (Private Message) button on a post from Matty and type your request there, if he's got the option enabled to contact him by email when he gets a new pm he'll know pretty much straight away, rather than relying on him coming to the site and seeing this post ;)

Unless Im missing something wont you struggle at range against vehicles especially the necron lith?

I know you said you wasnt going to use them as drop troops but I guess it may be well worth it!!!

With chem-halers and close order drill, why are you even bothering with voxes? Or the other way around - why are you bothering with close order drill?

Yes i will struggle with a monolith, but who doesn't! And as for tanks, well in that case yes i can deep strike in next to them and kill them,

And really, how may armies can deal with 133infantry, which are all an un-modifiable leadership of 10 and don't run away to enemy fire!

I'll just get into combat with the necrons and ignore the monolith!

If your alpha legion infiltrates no you wouldn't coz this army has a very nasty f'ck you trick for all infiltrating armies!

I deploy all my army spread out in my deployment zone. then if i win infiltrate roll, i deploy my platoon all 3 units spread out along your 12" or 15" deployment zone, in a really big line. Then you have to deploy out with 18" of my troops.

This is almost impossible to do! so since you don't have the right to keep units in reserve, any which cannot deploy are dead!!

That tactic will kill most of you army im afraid!

As i said! i'm being a right prick!

Aye thats about right!

I think when it comes to GT. I've lost my sense or humour!

But yes i think many opponents would call me that! But Infiltrate is a Vet skill thats over used, I've got no problems with Alpha legion doing it, but every other blood marine army does it and it annoys me!!

The reason that i've got for the close order, is 2 fold.

1, eventually, somebody is goint to try and kill my HQ unit no matter how much i try and hide it!

2, +1 leadership is only half the benefit! +1 initiative is more important!

i am in all respect trying to make a blood pack army without using the blood pack rules (that are not allowed at GT). I even spoke to Jan in mail order, and due to the wording of both the codex and the FAQ, i can even give chem inhalers to Grenaders!!

So guess whats going in the 2000pts army?

3 grenader units and a basilisk! lol

Yeah, GW messed up with the FAQ, they dropped the "guard infantry only" from the older FAQ.

Yar, due to the Chem Inhalers loophole (which may or may not be a loophole, who knows?!) I'm fielding an all grenadier/stormtrooper mechanized IG army with Chem Inhalers.

I think GW may have dropped the restriction on Chem Inhalers (if this was indeed intentional) because you would be able to make standard Guardsmen squads very nearly as useful as Stormtrooper squads, if not more so, for near equivalent points. Sharpshooters, Chem Inhalers, and Carapace armor would make them roughly the same price & durability as Stormtroopers, but much harder to break if Chem Inhalers were not available to Stormtroopers. That's just my take, although it probably was just an oversight on GW's part, I think it was a good one.

EDIT: Spack, did you get your DKoK Grenadiers yet? If so, get some pics up! :D I probably wont see mine until january or later =(

No, still waiting on the Grenadiers, Firing Squad, and Centaur - when I rang last week they were waiting on more Centaurs and Grenadiers to be cast up, but they did say it should only be a week or so to get my order shipped out, so hopefully I'll get them soon.

UPDATE: Just got home, they arrived this morning :D I'll post some piccies, the Centaur is certainly smaller than I expected.
