tau fire warriors

i have a pack of fire warriors and am wounding wether or not to equip them with pulse carbines as i want them to be moving to capture objectives. what do use`s recomend should i do this or keep them with pulse rifles.

and also if i have say darkstrider and cadre fireblade can i put them with the same unit of troops i.e. both in the same fire warrior squad ??

I think the first question to be asked about basic shooty weapons is do you want to specialise or be an all-rounder.
Sounds like you want the first and know what you want to be doing.

If you are going to be moving, the effective range of the carbine becomes 24" which is good compared to the stationary 30" of the rifle or snapshot 36".
Pinning is a nice bonus, though less than reliable and if you are in uncomfortably close proximity to enemies, it might be best to even assault after a poor round of shooting, or somesuch.

You can attach multiple independent characters to a unit.

The rife has been dropped to 24" in the new 'dex Ruffian4.

As to Harbo's question I'm not sure my self what way to go. With the carbines now being upgraded to assault 2 they have me very interested. I'm yet to have a game with them in the new rules so I can't say more yet. Yes Darkstrider and a cadre fireblade can be in the same unit as can an ethereal (if you have the HQ slots) you can make some awesome character combo's. I'm yet to work out how many of them are practicle or just for fun.
