The Fallen

Postby Dorman » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:54 pm

Ok so I have come across some of my old rogue trader marines as well as making a purchase on ebay for a half dozen!!
Having stripped the horrendously thick paint off of the mini's (which have come out sparkling by the way) I have been wondering what to do with them! The original plan was to flog em but I am having a change of heart!
Im thinking of painting them up as squad of traitor marines specifically ones of the Dark Angels chapter i.e. The Fallen!!
I am curently seeking thoughts on:
rules ( I was imagining something between Chaos Marine and Legion of the Damned)
colour schemes (pre heresy DA where jet black but......)

I have in total:
10 Marines with bolters (or what look like bolters)
1 Marine with missile launcher (looks a lot like las cannon tho)
1 Captain with power glove and wrist mounted flamer??-what it says in the old catalogue
1 Land Speeder (missing the melta gun if anyone has one spare)
1 Dreadnought with las cannon and power arm with twin bolters (the one with short legs)
All rogue trader models plus I have also just bought Cypher the Fallen Angel to lead the Fallen Brothers into battle.

Open to suggestions!!

PS Will post photos as soon as i can!!

Well this looks to be a great idea, however if you want to use the army, keep them to codex scratch or they display.

Or you could do what im doing, integrate them into your current army, ie i have 12 BA tactical squads and RT models and others are in and amongst them, gives character :D

Depending on what you already play, traitor or loyal, I would base them off that. Traitor, maybe do them as an elite unit of possessed or something to indicate how 'old' they are. Loyal though I would model them as you said(fallen) but use the legion of the damned as rules and indicate they were fAllen but are now redeamed. Maybe somethig like that.

Cypher can best be made using the rules for a SM captain, give him a Plasma pistol, Aux genade launcher and a power weapon, and that pretty much identical to his rules and stats in WD, except he should have initiative 6 because he shoots people in CC instead of pistol whipping them.

Thanks for the input guys!!
From what I have read on the DA the Fallen are loyal marines that where led astray by Luther having being driven mad by a combination of loss of faith in ElJohnson and in the imperium itself along with his loyalty towards his home planet and bretheren. These weaknesses where nurtured by Lord Cypher and whilst trying to save his home planet from the "Taint" Cypher manages to convince him that the way forward is to harness the power and use it for the greater good!
I would look towards using the squad as an elite choice within a chaos army or as a random squad (like the LOD) that would come onto the field at random. Theres a lot to consider such as the DA's relentless pursuit of the Fallen, I can just picture a DA force commander having to split his force to track down and wipe out the Fallen leaving the rest to carry on the battle against an army of greenskins.
Gonna take some planning!!
