"W40K is too expensive"...Really? Let's see

Postby KInG » Wed Jan 08, 2014 6:22 pm

Ok guys, I want you to help me out here if you can. I want to make a Necron army so I have more armies for my friends to play with on Batreps.

I thought I would try to acquire this army though as cheaply as possible though to see if the "I don't play W40k anymore coz its too expensive" is a viable statement for your average bod.

So I will not buy anything from my store, it will all be 2nd hand I'm guessing, from ebay or other community forums. I'm going to ask for anyone's help who will give it, who might be involved in other online sources to lookout or even search for, suitable purchases to reach my goal of a fully painted Necron army by mid summer.

Also in compiling this we need an army list to work towards roughly, something fairly competitive and easy to use. Anyone else who might have decent knowledge of such and army through playing against it or seeing one, please feel free to post it.

Right off to ebay.. post anything you think suitable in the thread guys, thx.

How much Matt? Are they painted? Hope not, they'll be cheaper... :)

How many you got and do either of you have a Necron 1850 - 2000 pit list.

I didn't sell mine, warriors or not. I haven't even used them with the 5th ed codex yet though.

There must be loads of cheap badly painted plastics floating about ebay. Just avoid all the finecast stuff like the plague though.

Surely it's actually cheaper to buy from the shop. Or are you limiting yourself to achieve this project even tho it would be cheaper?

Well, he did say he wanted to see how expensive it would be for the average person.
Doubt the average person would own a shop that sells GW items! ;)

That ebay auction sounds reasonable. Matts offer is good too and a very sound base for an army.

They will be getting rebased and re-painted unfortunately, so i'm trying not to pay anymore than 50% rrp painted or unpainted.

counting the scarabs as 1 necron warrior, those necrons are coming in at £1.47 each.

your asking for £1 each.. sorry matt. best I can offer is £0.75p each fella.

I know you want to help me with this community experiment, so when can you send them ;)

But hes including postage and you don't have VAT on them. Surely that accounts for the £0.25p each right?
The only "hobby" GW is interested in is lining their pockets with your money.

VAT? Is he vat registered? Me (personaly) neither. Why does vat come into this? :)

Postage is something separate to my calculation, so that is a fair point Jlong. My offer doesn't include postage. I would like to add though at this time our shop posts Matt's stuff to him free of charge - lmao ;)
