Their argument still hinges on them believing that the area under a skimmer's hull is not occupied by the skimmer.
I still believe that it is, since the rules say that a model occupies the area of its base or its hull if a vehicle.
And the rules for skimmers say you measure distance to and from the hull and that the skimmers base is ignored except for assaults.
For assaults, you can move into contact with the skimmers base, hull or both. I think the key here is the use of the term "or both". If the intent were to be able to move under a skimmer to assault it, then the rule should have said when assaulting a skimmer you can come into contact with "either" it's base or it's hull.
Their argument is based around the Valk model, which is apparantly mounted on a high enough flying stand for models to actually be placed under it. But there are many times in a game that a model can physically be placed somewhere, but they aren't allowed to by the rules.
I agree that there is no sentence in the rulebook that says, "Models may not end their move under other models." However, it should be noted that there also is not one that says, "Models may move under other model's hulls as long as the 1" rule is observed."
I don't need another dressing down by Meriwether, so I won't bother trying to bring any of this up over there.
