Why I avoid posting over there...

Postby timewizard » Mon Jul 13, 2009 1:23 am

As the title suggests, if you are interested in silly stuff, follow this linkto a rules discussion on Warseer.
I admit being sucked into this argument, but I have now sobered up intelectually and will not respond to future posts over there.
If anyone does take a peek, I don't think it will take much to admit that what is done over there is why we are all over here.
If nothing else, it might give you all something to chuckle about. Hope so

I almost never respond to a rules question on warseer. I only ever look in that section if I scroll past it and the shown thread title is a question I can answer.
In most cases, the rules queries can easily be answered by simply reading the relevant book.
I gave up after I got several nasty flames including stuff about 'if I ever play you I'd give up warhammer' and a few nasty names etc.
And what did I do to receive this abuse? I pointed out the RAW (to answer the original question). I would seem my abusers didn't actually read the second paragraph I wrote about as the RAW is a bit silly, you should discuss with your opponent beforehand to clarify a better solution.
I'm sure talking with your opponent before a game to ensure a better experience is really grounds for 'giving up the game' :?

I post in there probably less than 1% of what I used to. In fact I hardly visit warseer at all these days. That's more a time thing really as the traffic is so much there, it's a full time job keeping up with it and I don't have that time to spare.

Even on less "aggressive" forums than Warseer, I find when discussing RAW I've started putting a "this is not how I'd play it" disclaimer in almost every post during the discussion.

*sighs*

Although the way the discussions on the Swedish Comp system for 40k and Fantasy are going, it's entirely possible Warseer is going to spontaneously combust* anyway.

*Or become Skynet, if there was ever a conversation likely to push a computer over the edge and want to annihilate the Human race....this is it.

Meh, seems fairly reasonable debate at the mo,I've had worse in places here :)
Coredump is a fairly clinical guy, mildly abrasive, but a scalpel. (and since both of you are dakkarites too, I presume this discussion could take place in multiple places on the web :) )
You now have two options
1) out argue your dissentors current facts, through logic, more quotations and dissection of meaning of words/find new ways to express what you already have to make it more accessible. Show problems with alternate end products(like the rhino jump pack).
2) play popularist, generalities and common sense to get warseer masses on your side and then get democracy to win over the argument like they won over Galileo  ..
:)

"Are you actually suggesting" "You confusing Area""Do you honestly want to argue that" If I were anally minimodding the thread..I'd say those were the condescending comments, (even if its because they are in defence of the status quo) Your opponents "You, again, are making claims not supported by the rules...p.3 does *not* state anything of the sort." are only inflamatory if he is incorrect.(can you make them bullet proof and reiiterate them in a manner likely to convince the other side?

Good luck with the thread..

BTW Does "‘emergency disembarkation’ – the models are deployed anywhere within 2" of the vehicle’s hull, but the unit" overrule the general statement of your side? (note its similarity to multiple barrages which openly say they may be on top of each other)

That is awesome, my fluffy stuff came out -25 and my harder lists scored better.. I was tempted to start thread here, of just tallying everyones lists so we could see how we scored, and then I thought better of it

I actually quite like the Fantasy Comp system, the 40k one not so much.

Ha ha,

That Swedish Comp score is hilarious! Apparently my tournament build DeathWing are the same comp as my rediculously underpowered radical WH army.

Warseer's ok, I only look at tacticas & fluff nowadays. If I'm scouting for rules I do a search & do Meri says :D

I think the only way to prove if this space is occupiableostic, is to prove it mathmatically, by (quite obviously) using any "one of the prime numbers of the Zeiman series."*

Oh yes, quoting rules from page numbers that...
A, don't exist.
B, are pictures.

@KMB-I really don't think it's worth the time and effort to argue the points anymore, but I do appreciate the advice.
I will argue a point along with the best of them, especially if I feel I am correct. But if someone points out a relevant page in the rules (this or any other game) I would only be able to say (in my best Emily Litella voice) Oh! Nevermind!
As I tried to point out in the thread, if they want to play it that way, the rules support that. But if you want to follow the rules, then you need to read and follow them.
My only hope is that when Warseer self destructs, that the fallout doesn't rain down on other forums.
Thanks for listening! Game on Garth!

I mainly visit the painting and modding forums.

Their endless RAW debates just make me want to bludgeon them to death with a brb.

Agreed. The least they could do is come up with a new slant to argue about, but is is the same points over and over, ad infinitum, ad nauseum! :P
