I`m building a squad of Jetbikes which are sold in boxes of 3. To max the squad out......which I think is a good idea, I need 10 Jetbikes.

So why do GW sell them in 3`s if the maximum squad size is 10?

Because 3 gives you a basic squad probably. Being able to buy the basic squad as a set is far more useful than being convenient for buying multiples of 10 as very few customers will build 10 model squads.

They also sell them singly, so to max the squad out you buy 3 x boxes of 3, plus a single. A single box of 3 gets you a min squad size, and it cheaper then buying 3 single bikes. Also makes it easy to mix in shrieker bikes.

I know what you mean....a basic squad would consist of 3 Jetbikes. I just would have thought maybe selling them in 3`s and 5s would make sense but if you can buy them individually, then I suppose that`s ok.

........mind you, a 3 bike squad isn`t going to scare many opponents? Hmmmm.

Are we talking eldar? You don't see any threat from 3 jetbikes?
Go to rankingshq and other tourney result places and see how many eldar lists STILL have 2x3 jetbikes allowing people to spend 1600 points on more firey stuff. (sure the direavengers in waveserpents are popular.. but people who don't do that..do this).

3 man= not worth shooting at (good, live long..if they are shot your opponent is wasting shots), don't hurt your army sitting in reserve as long as possible,3str6 shots might do something=Awesomes.

Sorry, forgot you were doing Dark Eldar as well as Eldar. Yes, odd that's there's no single bike option for DE, although I guess they might do those as Direct only at some point in the future.
