Um, hardly real life, considering that the P1000 and P1500 were never really more than theoretical designs. They never even built complete prototypes.

TBH, for 40k in real life, you're far better off looking at something like the the French char 1b (http://abqscalemodelers.com/Bovington_Char_1.jpg) or the good old WWI british tank MkI

I've seen the "Malcador" look alike. Not as awsome as this "Kraut would have been"! Though we see alot of 40k irl during the medieval times.

Surely its all more that lots of stuff in medieval and early 20th century warfare inspired 40k, rather than the other way round...

Also, looking at the official weight of the baneblade, its more in line with the PzVIII Maus (316 for the baneblade, 188 for the Maus). The P1000/P1500 are probably more in line with the ideas for the Leviathan and Capitol Imperialis (all four vehicles designated as land fortresses rather than super heavy tanks).

I meant the rehtorics of intolerance, xenophobia and hate of the imperium are very similar to Medieval Europe, the whole concept of the crusade is obvious. Even the imperium gothic designs are inspired by Romens and Medieval Europe.

Inspiration for the Imperial guards are obviously all over the place. But the for imperium as a whole, definetly more influenced by the olden days imo.
