Q&As - GW - Armoured Company Doctrines compulsory?

Postby Spack » Wed Jul 13, 2005 5:41 pm

Question:

The AC list says
that doctrines are used in the same way as in the IG codex. I understand that if I take any doctrines and I want to use a Vanquisher that I'll have to buy it back using the Vanquisher under the rare tanks list, but what isn't clear is if the AC doctrines work in *exactly* the same way as the IG ones - ie. if I don't want to use any doctrines at all, can I create an AC army using the list including rare tanks like the Vanquisher (just as a non-doctrine IG army can take Techpriests even though they are a rare choice when doctrines are used) - or are doctrines compulsory in all AC lists?

Answer:

If you do not wish to use any doctrines in your Armoured company, you would simply choose the elements that you want from the basic list without restriction as you can with the Imperial Guard codex. What it means by using them in exactly the same way is that you need not take any doctrines if you don't want to, or you can spend up to 5 doctrine points to specialise your force.
