And Blood of Kittens says.....

6th ed will be out at the end of the Olympics.
and
"What makes 6thed potentially earth shattering is the version of AoBR we will get. For the first time in a long time neither Xenos nor the Warriors of Roboute Guilliman will be featured. Nor will the Sledgehammer of the Emperor be chosen to fill the starter box."

So is that chaos vs sisters? or do we take Guilliman as only being smurfs and say thats Grey Knights vs sisters or what??

been following this on warseer... mentioning guilliman could just mean its not basic marines.. no xenos pretty much leaves CM an daemons.. marines vs marines would be a bit dull.. GK vs daemons would be nice and fluffy but Its not a good starter box combo.
wishlisting i'd probably like to see craftworld Eldar vs guard

If I had to put money on a chapter to include in the starter box, it would be the Dark Angels. They're the only founding chapter without out a proper 5th ed codex and would be due a new codex around then anyway. They've always had a bigger following than Black Templars, and it wouldn't make sense to create another non-codex Marine chapter just for 6th ed ... or would it?

It'll have to be Chaos marines for the non-Imperial side if it's non-Xenos, so that's a no-brainer, unless they make up another human faction or go with Inquisition, either of which will not sell as well as Chaos. And opposing the Dark Angels would give an excuse to include fluff about the Fallen in the starter game too.

As to GK in the box, I'd say it's unlikely - given the codex is coming out shortly, by the time 6th ed comes along they'll have been creeped out of favour by whatever comes out between now and 6th ed.

Wouldn't Guard be the sledgehammer of the emperor?

I am quite disapointed at the idea of a 6th ed. to me 5th has been about the pinnacle of the game so far (admittedly id make a few changes, but in general im very happy), I have sad thoughts about all these lovely codexes having half their equipment become useless.

When they do, do 6th i hope its more a 5.5 ed... minor tweaks like removing random game length for the majority of games etc.

But thats the change from 4th I most like...4th ed was all about eldar/tornados hanging out out of sight and knowing last turn was coming zooming to contest with impunity, zero chance of repercussion.
I'd like the ordinance table back, or at least a plus 1 modifier. All this "melta or you don't have anti tank" is getting silly.
I didn't have a melta gun until 2009, now I have 50 odd

I'd like to see them go back to the 2nd ed version of scatter for blast templates, that had it right, every ed since I feel got it wrong. 3rd/4th ed if you missed nothing happned and this ed you roll to scatter it minus your BS. If you fire an explosive warhead its going to explode SOMEWHERE and with modern(ish) weapons the chance of hitting what you aim at is quite high. Thats why I think 2nd ed had it right, you place the template, roll to hit, if you hit it stays where it is, if you miss it scatters. Simples.
