AoBR Boxed Set (and other new stuff) up for Preorder!

Postby LordMalekTheRedKnight » Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:45 pm

Hey all :)

hereit is!

some confusion already though:
"...this set provides some unique scenery..." :?

ive called MO who initially said there wasnt any scenery in the box, but when i quoted the website he said he presumes it will be a CoD ruin, but doesnt know any more than what it says on the site. i pointed out that i wouldnt want to pre-order it until i knew what was in it, and he said they should know for sure after a few days. :|
here is the full quote:

An ideal first purchase for anyone new to wargaming or existing gamers who want to begin playing Warhammer 40,000, the enclosed starter booklet has easy-to-follow examples and a step-by-step introduction to the game, while the rulebook contains all of the information you'll need to play the game proper. The two armies provided will allow you and a friend to begin playing right away - these finely detailed, plastic, citadel miniatures have been specially designed to allow you to quickly assemble an army ready for your first battle. For existing Warhammer 40,000 players, this set provides some unique scenery and a handy, pocket-sized rule book, great for taking along to tournaments and events. This boxed game contains a 112-page Rulebook, a 33-page Getting Started booklet, Dice, Templates, Range Rulers and almost 50 Citadel miniatures, including: a Space Marine Captain, 10 Tactical Space Marines, Five Space Marine Terminators, a Space Marine Dreadnought, an Ork Warboss, 20 Ork Boyz, five Ork Nobz and three Ork Deffkoptas.
Price: £40.00
Release: 6/9/2008
Item Type: Boxed Set
Part Code: 60010199005

hope that helps :)

In the rule book they show the AoBR armies playing on a table with 1 crater, 2 of the CoD barricades, Some CoD ruins (tiny less than a sprue), a wood and a small hill. No idea what it would be.

This has been on the Gaming Figures site for pre-order for a few days now.

I'm quite tempted to pick one up but I will probably wait till it has been released.

without Terrain i am 99.9% certain that i wont be getting the boxed set (i dont want any orks and i dont need any more Marines, so whats the point?), so i would be looking to pick up a cheap rulebook from someone who is buying multiple boxed sets...

cheers :)

Just picked up 2 boxes myself. Cannot wait till they actually ship(Early September)

You just cannot beat the saving in the box.

$15 Captain
$35 10 Tactical Marines
$50 5 Terminators
$40 Dreadnought

$17 Warboss
$22 10 Boyz
$22 10 Boyz
$45 5 Nobz
$75 3 Deffkoptas

$321 Retail

I paid $48 for each box via The Warstore. I get all the models(The kopters alone are worth the box price imho) and I get the 5ed mini rules that were originally not included but are now. :)

No confusion on the US site here;
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... tyle=wh40k
Doesn't even mention scenery. :?
However, you can purchase a set of 6 Ork barricades for $22 US (can anyone spell bits box?)
I'm going to get one anyway, as Jlon05 points out, it's a good deal for the bucks (especially with Neal's discount!).

it did - i checked earlier. ;)

however, i have just received my WDO newsletter, and followed the link there, and it seems the offending line about scenery has been removed from the UK site as well.

oh well, guess it really was too good to be true. :(

incidentally, how come they can do this in one day, but its taken over a week and they still havent fixed the price of the Moonscape Craters (listed as £12 when they only cost £10)? :?

i love those. i just bought the standard CoD ones and i was very impressed. eventually i will get these too. :)
(you get them cheaper than us as well - they would be $24 if you paid the same prices we do :P)

thisseems like a good deal for UM players too. :D

Serious question;

Should Ultramarines be painted primarily in the Ultramarines blue colour?

I've been following a painting guide and basically UM blue is a highlight colour for a slightly darker primary colour..

Mordian Blue is one of the colors from the foundation paint range. Maybe this is the 'undercoat' for ultramarine blue?
