Assault on Black Reach Sold out on opening day of sale...

Postby Taumaul » Mon Sep 01, 2008 4:12 pm

Just had a conversation with our rep at GW and he informed me that the UK Trade sales team have sold out of their opening stock allocation of 25,000 copies of AoBR box sets.

They do however expect to get more in next week.

I must admit I did think when he told me that they would've had at least twice that amount allocated to them for opening stock.

Lucky I ordered a few extra sets.

Shame I wont be able to get the 10 box sets I wanted until later on. 8)

Yargg. 8O I joked that I might have to wait until the second release (I joked at christmas)..
Even the 40k true haters I know say its the best bargain box for years (and thats them looking at the RRP  )
how many units do they normally have prepped of things (e.g. SM codex, 5th ed books etc)is it a total failure of listening to someone who demands just in time management instead of fashions etc :?:

i was talking to Kate last night, and we have tentatively decided to order it in a little while (from www.GamingFigures.com of course). its too good a deal to pass up, even if we dont need the minis in it (and Kate said she wanted her own copy of the mini rulebook too).

im in no rush though...

Well they are $45 in the US local store discount.

Edit:
$60 normal is a bit high to me but I am cheap.

My local store almost had a catastrophe this week with the AoBR boxes. They had taken orders for loads of them but only received the balance of their required number - almost 200 boxes - late on Friday 5th.

They were seriously concerned (not quite the euphemism I was thinking of!) that they would not actually have sufficient boxes to cover their ordered copies, never mind have extra ones to sell on the day. However, all's well that ends well and everyone got their little box.

I managed to blag a copy of the small rulebook from a guy who had bought two boxes. (Yeah, ok, so I'm a smarmy skinflint!)

I have started flagging mine on eBay. Apparently either a lot of people didn't get what they wanted or a lot were hoping they would go on eBay.
