Codex inquisition

Re: Codex inquisition

I for one am disappointed.

The information before release was that this would be largely a companion codex allowing you to use the units in conjunction with other Imperial codex detachments, and for this they were successful. My issue is that I was also led to believe that this would also allow the Inquisition to be used as a primary force and they fell woefully short of this being even close to a possibility. The FOC of 1 required HQ, and 1 additional optional HQ and up to 3 optional Elites and that is it broke this completely. Add to this the fact that the units are literal carbon copies from the 5ed GK codex, further emphasizes the complete money grab plan from GW on these digital only codex rules. No way to properly review, and no way to get a refund for the money wasted.

What is sad though, is this could have been so much more with the simple addition of a couple items. Had this codex been up to me, here is how I would have laid it all out.

HQ
Named Inquisitors, including those highlighted but without rules now.
Generic Inquisitor Lords

Elites
Malleus, 0-1 Grey Knight Terminator Squad
Herreticus, 0-1 Sisters
Xenos, 0-1 Deathwatch unit

0-1 Assassin

Henchman unit(s)

Troops
IST (I mean really??? Why are these missing???)

Fast Attack
Valkyrie

Heavy
Land Raider Crusader/Redeamer

Orbital Strike

Not sure why they decided to screw up a viable army, but they did. Makes me want to just toss in the towel and go elsewhere permanently.
The only "hobby" GW is interested in is lining their pockets with your money.

just take away the word "codex".. its 4 quid less than the iron hands and tau supplement.. It is a supplement And follows their formats exactly.
If it quacks like a sheep paddles like a sheep, then don't call it a duck Geedubs, thats all thats going on here.

its not a codex, they just put the option of henchman being troops to stop coteaz being everywhere embarrassing their balance (like the black legion addon)

Surely just exterminatus why would an inquisitor bother with anything else? :)

Meh.. I'm kind of sore that they didn't include assasssins, I still have yet to use mine without having to have a huge bunch of stupid guard tax in the list.. but I can see why balance wise they didn't.
Its allie chart is very accommodating, its bolt on-yness to ally with allys matches the current power level.
And I come at it from the angle of good grief if it was a "codex" (in bold) then geedubs would would have less than 1/3rd non terra based(/xenos) armies, with so much duplication when what we want is less triple duplication and minor variants but thats just me on my onesies...

Replace all uses of "supplement" with "White Dwarf [when it was vaguely good]" ;)

They're monetizing their assets dear boy, as you're well aware.

There doesn't appear to be a trench deep enough to accomodate the GW price gouging approach - and people are still paying. I find this astounding. People appear to be willing to pay for anything...

I can almost justify their model prices to myself - as they are very good. I cannot justify the rules prices any more as they are charging a premium price for a definitely un-premium product in my eyes.

I've stopped bitching directly about that because I was boring myself ;)

;) Exactly, everything else they churn out is bottom of the industry pile IMO. If the rulesets were any good, I would probably still be buying models for my existing armies though.

You can't stop now, surely this whole site is only held up by the whinging sminging and bitching of the entirety of the board who never play games..
I've peeked over the mountain I have seen the promised land where board gamers and table top players, where kids who want to field 15 landraiders are welcomed just as much as some grizzled 70 year old who has never forgiven d100 pen and paper games failure to entertain. Where people talk positively about gaming *experiences* and talk equally over a diverse range of topics rather than getting to a beach and concreting 4 small walls around their little patch, sure they still promote things they enjoy, but through personal testimony and heartfelt anecdotal gamership rather than through copypasta shillsmanship..
Now I might not get there with you but
[..hmm]
scrub that, I'm going back to the promised land you peeps can catch me up in your own time.

Meh, at least I pointed out a practical application of the "Codex", even if it was the rather predictable "spam cheap must have stuff". If the topic was distilled down to very strictly on topic stuff, mine would be only one of four posts to survive :P

One of mine too!

Another Bara/Ljund agreement fest ensues. Yawn.

I've been working with metal models lately - I forgot what a pain in the ass they are & how spoiled we are with using plastic!

And KMB - you & I still play - not against each other so much - but we're keeping the gaming fires burning.
