Everyone in- Other websites/clubs at future AOS events.

News and rumours

Should the next few age of strife weekends be tournament centred+ incorporate 2 other websites.

Yes -I want to play in a tournament with 30-40 people who are competent players
No - Pub ethos meetup clashes with large semi professional tournaments.

I got fed up of seeing the finecast thing lol. I think the sig actually shows my favourite part of the weekend too even tho I got made everyones bitch.
the worst part would be going to the bar and then remembering im driving :(

Ok so next event, saturday 40k 'tournament campaign thing' during day, evening quiz, retire to bar for randomness, sunday more randomness and or pick up games?

As long as we get maximum attendence i am happy with anything, if you need help with anything let me know even if its just sorting the quiz or something.

Worst part of the weekend for me, dropping my mayo covered chips into my lap and relising that when i wiped my self down that i looked like i was REALLY enjoying my game!

100% with Bane from this side.

I'm up for an AoS representation to a tournie this year!

Nice post Bane. Just meeting everyone and playing "stuff" is good for me. Coming away at the end of the day having played different games with you guys is better than having a headache and feeling exhausted from concentrating and standing up all day forgetting to drink which relentless and competitive tournaments can do (to me anyway)!

Just to clarify from Toby's post, my issue is not at all with tournies, but with needing to spend time and money finding a list/codex that is competitive and fun to play ;)

In terms of events, I generally open to most ideas.

Stargod and I, probably not, the others, yes, but they are part-timers in any case.

Methinks for me, though, I see the get togethers as a chance to do something different, like the non-apoc apoc sized game we did with Jim, special scenario, fluff build-up and bat rep.
Stargod liked the doubles games though.

Do you genuinely really actually expect people to suddenly tone down their playstyle when only bragging rights and ego are on the line?
Note I'm not referring to any individuals I played against this weekend.. I'm more referring to king, james+I who just don't down shift very easily.

So if next meetup can get quorate (soon enough, none of this 7 people till the week before lark) its some kind of fluff bluff doubles thingamajig with random partners.

Stunty has done some awesome work creating a viable, structured network to form a (friendly) tourney.. (its like the seed matt sami and james planted he's nursed into a fully viable small plant.) Whilst as I anticpated, an awful lot of you don't want the plant growing in our backyard..might I suggest the natural solution to
BANE wrote:@ James, if you ever want to attend a official tournie just give me a hola and we can rally the troops. Oh yeah, excuse for forum tshirts :-)

Is for stunty as a member of roll with it, to get Matt and the other leader peeps to take it over and then we send a small delegation-cough like we did cough.(on a seperate date to AOS fluffy stuff).. so armageddon inc phill etc peeps who tourney can tourney.. And crazy doubles against roaming dragons in the middle of the table can be at another time. Takes the pressure off numbers for us. Means GF doesn't have to struggle to outbid 3 other prize giving bodies.
Between smoking breaks and gaming I think I met 4 of their core group, and to paraphrase an old wives bunkum- a friend is just a stranger you haven't played TWICE (cos once in the distant dark past of somewhere around 2010..me and bane were strangers from different walks of life in different regions of the countries)

It also means if people suck and don't turn up to AOS things there is still something that those who are willing to travel can go to.. a back up plan of sorts.

Stunty wrote:My issue is not having a painted army
No your issue is that you will do anything to not play a game

Do you want to point that dark angels guy to making an army list thread here?
Barely even lurking..

Lol I've only got about 3 models with anythin more than basecoat. Thanks for the complement though.
Yes alright I do swerve games lol the lack of paint does bother me though when an opponent has made an effort with his.
I wouldn't say I've nurtured the tourny, more pulled it's hair, slapped it about a bit and made it my skanky little bitch.
I have got a few (silly) ideas for a friendly tourny campaign thing i'll come round 1 day with that army I won't bring and try em out.
Going back to what you said last minuters are annoying planni.g wise
