Forgeworld open day 28/03/10

Postby killmaimburn » Sun Mar 28, 2010 7:10 pm

Well me and ljundhammer dropped by.. It was packed. but LH showed his bar smoothness and swiftly got the guiness in.
We walked in, there was a massive table where something was going to happen at some stage..possibly (see pic).. there was the forgeworld sales counter (which by the time we left had a queue getting in the way of everything else). And a centre piece;
A ring of tables (4 tables lengthwise circling them in) with a lot of staff( :D ) answering questions and painting, 3 big diaoramas (all current stuff) nice DKOK trench thing with 4 warhounds and a few other thigs on.
Some glass cabinets (tau suits, nice big mech orky stuff, eldar D cannon super heavy..
There was a very nice DKOK chaplin on a horse. Some grot tanks that looks very funny. Ravenguard with sternguard-like stuff (pics in the free catalogue I have somewhere around)A big eldar titan..which was pretty.
I believe the new IA book was there (had the guard buggies in) but the queue to read that was fairly long.. i read a few bits of fluff over a blokes shoulder for a while before we decided we'd done enough for the day and went out for a smoke.
I didn't see any DE,SW, or CRON in cabinets. I didn't ask about them.
Place was well organised, well staffed.. just a bit meh..in my mind games day is like that but 3 times as much stuff..I'm glad I went to the free one.

TBH if your really interested in what was there philbrad has the best pictures..

On storm raven
"None at all. 'The SM assault lander' we saw mocked up at UKGD 2009 is NOT the Stormraven that is official and FW wouldn't be drawn on commenting on if they GW one would look like it. I get the feeling FW came up with the concept and have been told to lay off developing it as it was to be incorporated into mainstream 40K. "

Wing commander of warseer on IA8 "The Artwork and stories in IA8 were up to the usual very high standard, but they'd blanked out all of the statlines so you couldn't see them... The books have just gone to the printers and should be ready for release in approx 6 weeks according to FW guys. "

It's a pity you didn't mention you where there. 6 of us from High Wycombe (me, thecolonel,iceman99, cheeseninja, jimster and dixon) where there. You may have seen us on one of the tables next to the queue, playing a 4500pt marines vs chaos game.
Ultramarines, Imperial Fists and Space Wolves took on Ahriman's thousand sons, Necrosias's Nurgle and a Slannesh Warband on the Suprise assualt mission from the Battle Missions book.
Result - Imperial win 27 to 24.

I wanted my lunch :D Sorry for not announcing it, I went because Ljundhammer went as a last second whim.
Highlight of the day for me was the guy, presumably playing next to you, with the pink nids who was using magnablox for tryanid seeding spores.. they looked awesome and apparently only cost him £3 each.
I saw a massive game, but all these 8 year olds were touching the stuff..was that yours?

Grimstonefire on warseer just upped a bunch more pics (as he says more of the same..I don't think there was that much there really)

When did they say they weren't? FW staff I spoke to at GD UK a couple of years ago were quite clear that one would be on the way at some point, and now here it is :)

KMB, what's the pic of the Red Scorpions for? I've had those Vanguard Vets since GD UK 2008! And the standard vets have been out even longer than that. They're not new sculpts.
