FW 275 - MkII Crusade and MkV Heresy Armour Assault Squads

Postby Spack » Fri May 20, 2011 7:23 pm

Hi there,
This week’s newsletter sees Forge World return to the Badab War with two new full resin Space Marine assault squads. We also have an update from the Warhammer World Events team on their Badab War Campaign Weekend in June.

Space Marine Assault Squad in MkII ‘Crusade’ Armour
MkII Armour represented a significant technological step forward from the original Space Marine Thunder Armour. Created by the Adeptus Mechanicus, it was totally enclosed and life sustaining, making it suitable for use in a variety of hostile environments including deep space. The few surviving examples of this pattern are still maintained by some of the oldest Space Marine Chapters and are venerated as sacred relics.

The Space Marine Assault Squad in MkII Armour, designed by Phil Stutcinskas and Will Hayes, contains 5 complete Assault Marines in MkII ‘Crusade’ pattern power armour, armed with Umbra-pattern bolt pistols and chainswords.

Space Marine Assault Squad in MkV ‘Heresy’ Armour
The iconic MkV ‘Heresy’ pattern of Space Marine Power Armour was first created during the dark days of the Great Betrayal. Remarkably durable and easy to produce and maintain, large quantities were supplied to the Space Marine Legions prior to, and during, the Heresy. As the galaxy spanning civil war progressed, new supplies of arms and armour for the Traitor Legions were heavily disrupted, forcing them to scavenge components from their fallen enemies.

The Space Marine Assault Squad in MkV Armour, designed by Phil Stutcinskas and Will Hayes, contains 5 complete Assault Marines in MkV ‘Heresy’ pattern power armour armed with Umbra-pattern bolt pistols and chainswords.

Both of these intricately detailed, multi-part resin models are fully compatible with Forge World and Games Workshop’s existing range of Space Marines and are available to order now for immediate despatch

Games Day France – 22nd May 2011
Sculptors Edgar Skomorowski and Simon Egan, accompanied by graphic artist Sam Lamont, will soon be embarking taxis and aircraft for the epic journey to the Parc Floral de Paris for Games Day France on Sunday 22nd May, along with the rest of the Forge World Event team.

You’ll be able to purchase our MkIII Armoured Boarding Space Marine and Chaos Dwarf Hellsmith Event Only models, as well as a dizzying array of the Forge World and Warhammer Forge range of kits on the day. We can also announce that the MkII and MkV Assault Squads announced in this newsletter will be available in limited numbers from our Sales stand. We look forward to seeing you there!

Badab War Campaign Weekend – 25th and 26th June 2011
Warhammer World’s Events team are re-fighting the infamous Badab War campaign over the weekend of 25th - 26th June, and there are still a few tickets available for the Secessionist side of this bloody civil war.

To take part, you will need a fully painted and based 2,500 point force, which can be broken down into smaller armies. These armies do not have to share units if you do not wish – Space Marines have a great many resources available! The complete rules for army selection can be found in the event pack which can be downloaded now from http://www.games-workshop.com under the Warhammer World section of the website.
There will also be the opportunity to take part in some social wargaming on the Friday evening with Boarding Action mini games being played on our specially made 'Raptorus Rex' terrain boards. This will not contribute to the overall results of the campaign, but it will be a great way to meet new people, socialise and get in some practice with your army!

Have you seen the Heresy Miniatures dragon? http://www.heresyminiatures.com/dragon.htm

Kicking myself that I didn't pre-order one, as the pre-order price was £100.

I guess doubling up the amount of resin with the jump packs results in 5 models for the price of 10 in a tac squad.

I have a question for those who know. Have those style Jump Packs been in GW official artwork previously? I don't recall seeing them in any GW publications before.

I have however seen them created by other non GW people before.

Maxmini produce these.

And there is a tutorial on BolterandChainsword to make these,

Granted the second one uses GW pieces in their construction. But even so, it still pre dates these new FW versions. Hence why I am curious if the actual design is older. I mean in the real world.

Rogue Trader jump packs for Marines and IG were very similar. They come up on eBay regularly.

For example:

EDIT: Found a pic on Stuff of Legends, the turbofan backpack was in the Citadel 1988 catalogue : http://www.solegends.com/citcat88/4103s ... nes-01.jpg (left side in the backpacks box, top right corner)
